Lake Como
A view from Lecco
Hey there!
I'm trying to be a bit more regular with my blogs than I have been over the past 2 weeks. I know that there are a few of you who enjoy reading the blogs. As usual, I don't have much to say, but on Wednesday I had a free day and decided to go and visit Lake Como.
Lake Como is the 3rd biggest lake in Italy and is in the shape of an upside down Y apparently! I went to Lecco which is at the south of the lake. I wanted to go to Como itself but it meant having to change trains at least once, which would mean the journey would take more than 2 hours, whereas I went to Lecco on the train with no changes and it took only 35 minutes!
Anyway, the cold weather you have at home is currently over Italy (although no snow much to my disappointment). So, on Wednesday when I went to Lecco, I knew as soon as I got off the train that I was in a town with a lake because it was so windy, and I know what it can be like in Windermere
and Bowness in the Lakes when it's that time of year.
Anyway, I found the lake by following the strength of the wind, and there it was. It's an absolutely gorgeous lake with an amazing backdrop of hills, mountains and the Alps. It was cold as hell and blowing a gale, but I enjoyed it. I ended up eating in McDonalds cos I needed to warm up a bit and then I went for a walk up the side of the lake. I got some nice photos which I'm gonna upload aswell.
Tomorrow I'm going to a place called Brescia with my friend Hannah (who goes to Sheffield Hallam but is actually from Kendal near me...you know, the place where they make Kendal Mint Cake!). It's about an hour away from Bergamo and is Lombardy's second biggest town after Milan. I've seen a few pics of it and it looks like a nice place. It'll be nice to go somewhere with someone for a change!
