"We drove to Verona. It was a pretty long ride. When we got there we got to a hotel that was very, very nice. They gave us a drink and snack for a welcome. We then went to a bell tower. We walked up and the top had a very nice view. It was a lot of stairs. When I looked down so my dad can take a picture, believe it or not, sometimes I can be a little scared of heights. Then we walked back down. We went to the Verona Arena and it kind of looks like the coliseum, but it is not. I kept on following Vitor and holding on to his jacket. My dad took a picture of Vitor and I from the other side of the arena. It was cool. We then went to Juliet's house from the famous Romeo and Juliet. My dad and I took a picture on the balcony. It was very cool" - Sofia

Daddy's Comments:

After 3 nights in Piedmonte, it was time to head west to Veneto and we drove 2 hours to our hotel in the small town of Pedemonte outside of Verona. Three years ago when Sofia and I did this trip it was 2 hours of Justin Beiber. This time it was all about One Direction ( with a little of Lady Gaga and Beastie Boys mixed in). We arrived out our little hotel called albergo alla pesa and immediately were treated to a welcome drink which we all found refreshing.

Bags in the room and we were off to Verona. Sofia had not been to Verona when we were last in Valpolicella 3 years ago and for Vitor it had been about 10 years. We started at Piazza dei Signori and after some "selfies" (Sofia hates it when I use that term) we climbed the Torre dei Lamberti where we had an incredible view of the city. We then walked, had some awesome Gelato, a quick pic of Sofia and Mario Balotelli (okay a replica), and we arrived at the Arena. Really cool! We really enjoyed our time inside and Sofia and Vitor walked around the entire arena.

Next stop was Casa de Giulietta where Vitor touched her left breast for good luck (when in Verona...) and Sofia and I did a quick tour of the museum and the balcony. Back to the hotel where we were had an incredible dinner at our hotel. We ate family style sharing all, and it was tough to decide which pasta we preferred, and the food did not stop coming. What a meal and great hosts! We really enjoyed it so much that we decided we would definitely eat there again the next night (but not order as much food....) The woman who works in the hotel promised Sofia that she would back a special dessert for her.

We then hit the sack......Full and final day of wine tasting the next day...my personal favorite....Amarone....maybe I will pick up a "few" bottles....
