Venice: During the night we steamed a West-North-Westerly course across the Adriatic Sea towards Venice. At approximately 1:00 p.m. we will tie up along side for our overnight stay. Venice is a city in northeastern Italy sited on a group of 118 small islands separated y canals and linked by bridges. It is located in the marshy Venetian Lagoon which stretches along the shoreline, between the mouths of the Po and the Piave Rivers. Venice is renowned for the beauty of it s setting, its architecture and its artworks. The city in its entirety is listed as a World Heritage Site. As we have been here before we again are doing our own thing, an have not arranged to go on an organized tour. We will be going to St. Mark’s Square and the Basilica a breathtaking landmark, this famous basilica is unlike any other. It’s adorned with golden façade mosaics, marble and bronze statues and five domes, and it also has spectacular views from the bell tower.
