Hey everyone! Well, today we made it Venice. I still can not believe that we are here and travelling all around Europe! It is crazy!!
But first, back a day to Florence. Yesterday (Monday) we went on a country side tour of Tuscany. Thats right, we skipping all of the famous museums in Florence! Dont freak out art lovers...but Jen and I are just fine looking at the replica of David :) So, back to our countryside tour. We rode a double decker bus about 40 min into Tuscany and went to a Chianti winery where we toured a castle and the wine cellar...and the best part...did some wine tasting!! We sat at a table with some wonderful people...a couple from Australia (which we exchanged email addresses), two from Scotland and another couple from Chicago. It was so much fun!! Which of course included appetizers (which we treated as dinner!). And then being the "smart" American travelers that we are, we eat had to buy a bottle of wine. Which will of course not fit into our already packed suitcases. Good thing our flight tomorrow to Paris on Ryanair only allows one checked bagagge not weighing more than 15 kg...and only ONE carryone (this includes a purse). Needless to say, we had to buy a duffle bag on the corner this am on our way to the train station. Only us... Oh! And our bus driver was SOOOOOOOOOOO hot! And Melissa...that would be a no...zero!
Oh, but Florence was just breath taking! The views were amazing and the architecture is beyond anything I ever imagined. Our hotel was about 2 min from the Duomo so it was a perfect location! (thanks Ellen!) And I will say one thing...it seems that in order to get a license in Italy you have to be insane...but I will say one thing...they at least know how a traffic circle works!!
Then we took the train (about 2 hours) from FLorence to Venice. And suprisingly found our hotel with no problems! That is only because Michelle was kind of enuf to give me her map of Venice that she used last fall and I was able to plan my route of attack out on the train ride over. But we did have to cross only rather steep bridge and with suitcases, that was no fun in the 85 degree weather.
Then we had dinner off the Canal Grande...spaghetti, again. I am SO sick of Italian food!!! And then went to the Piazza San Marco...so amazing!!!!!!!!
And that brings us to now...time to have a glass of wine and call it a night. We will venture out again tomorrow and take the bus to Treviso airport to Paris. And the journey ends there. It has been quite a ride, but we are ready to come home...
Thanks for travelling along with us...I will try and post one more before we come home.
Ok, I had quite a few pics to publish but it is taking too long and I need to cash out. So I am not sure which ones are going to post or what the captions will be, but please know that I tried.
