(Kate) Helloooooo from Venezia!! Thats Venice, to you...haha. We got in at 9 PM yesterday after 12 hours of trains...yikes! We shared a train with these really cute kids. One of them was crazy.
(Ian) Ok I, Ian, am going to tell this part cause I made a new best friend. Let me tell you about him. He is from Vienna but his parents are Nigerian and the most distinguishable thing about him is his laugh. He is 2 years old and laughs like an old man, it is hilarious. At one point in the trip I almost died laughing because he made a friend through the compartment door window that he played with for about 15 min then he had to say bye. Not Happy about it. So after closing the door to his other 2 year old friend he said bye bye and then proceeded to faint and fall directly backwards. Now I know I cannot fully convey the hilarity of this scene but try to imagine a little kid in such huge despair from leaving his friend he gives up on life. Upon giving up he decides to fall directly backwards on to the hard, unforgiving floor. his head came close to crashing down upon it but luckily three of us caught him at the last moment. The tears of laughter flowed at this kids knack for melodrama. These are the experiences that I really treasure and remember among my travelling days.
(Kate) So today we are pretty much just going to walk around Venice. Our hotel (yes, its a HOTEL not a hostel for once!!!) is small and cute, and away from the main part of the city, so thats nice. We will take a water taxi into town, I think, if we can find one. The canals are beautiful and I have only seen like two, so I can imagine this city is amazing to walk around. Last night we had pizza and pasta...we have found a new love for spaghetti carbonara, its spaghetti with cheese, egg and bacon....we had it at an Italian place in Munich, actually, and are excited to be in Italy for it. Im sure Ian will make me learn how to make it when we get home...haha. I plan on going to St. Marks square today, and making friends with some pigeons. Pigeons never bothered me, but Ian thinks they are gross, like flying rats. I think they are cute. Haha okay, not cute, but not disgusting. Haha. Its funny because we dont understand very much Italian, I mean, its close to Spanish so we are close, but we dont speak it really. And yet its still refreshing and comforting to be in Italy and hear Italian everywhere. It might have something to do with spending the time with Ians family, or it might be because at least it doesnt look all crazy like Czech or Hungarian with a bunch of zs and js and ks in weird spots, or maybe a combination of both. We are spending about 2 weeks here in Italy, so we are happy about that, and all of our places pretty much from here on out have easier languages to guess and pronounce. It was hard being in Easternish Europe and not even knowing how to say hello or thank you...so we will feel more polite here.
Alright time to go explore the city. We will probably give you guys more info as it comes...internet is fairly inexpensive here. And by that I mean 6 bucks an hour, haha, so you can see how expensive things are in Europe!! Love you!

Hello, Not much to say but I hope you have a really nice time in Venice. Also wanted you to know that I'm still reading your blogs.
Love ya
Glad to hear you are both back in Italy where you seem to be most comfortable. And a hotel for a change ... such a treat! Sounds like your little friend on the train made the travel a lot more enjoyable. But just what was his laugh like? Ian will have to demonstrate when you get back. Ti amo e ti perdere !
