Hi all
Greeting from Italy
You haven't herd from us because there are't many computers avaiable and we are so busy it takes so much
time. So here is a short re-cap from our excelent adventure.
Traveling to Italy
The adventure of moving from one place to another is quite interesting.
Although flying here from SFO was very uneventiful other than being very boring.
Once in Italy for the first few days can be trying. Seems the people assume you know where and
you are going.
Take Venice for example since there is no grid to the streetss, it takes a day or so to find your
way around but once to are acclamated "not so hard". I must tell we loved Venice its remarkable.
Next the Cinque Terra. Our first experiance with the Trains. Its a odd system no destainsnation
marked on the train and nobody to check tickets. So you don't really have to have a ticket and
on our third train, a porter showed up and just walked on.
The Cinque Terra! How can you describe it? only when you arrive you know the best is yet to come.
While in Venice we didn't think a more beautiful place could exist. The canals, the boats, great
food and wine.
Back to the Cinque Terra so unbelieveable! Hill side towns terraced down to the beautiful water.
We walked the trail Sandy,John and I three towns Kayleen did all five. Then down to the beach to relax and
swim in the blue, warm water (JUst heaven). When our time was up we were so sad to leave and ofcourse
leave the great food' wine etc.
I'm not putting any dates to this story becaus I hardly know What day it is.
I must tell the last night in the C.T. the most spectacular Thumder and lighting I have ever herd or see in
my life occured and ofcourse RAIN.
Off to Lucca by train so ofcourse when you have a strom like that the trains are delayed so the short train
ride turned into a wholeday affair. When the train are late you can imagin the amount of people and
of course no Portors very messy!!!!!! Now we are not loving the Italian Trains.
Lucca again we arrive and fall in love with another place . Ofcourse as usual! we get lost a lot but
now we know that is standard for the first day. How can I describe Lucca LET SEE! Snow white lives
behind a huge wall to keep all the bad Pisans out. Again great food and wine but to John's liking
more meat and Lamb on the menu. Lucca is our base to explore the surrounding aeras Pisa one
day of-course we climbed the Leaning Tower (John too) and we have decided the bus is the way to
travel when possible.
Florance by bus the next We decided two Musums in one day is way to much but we did visit
the local rowing club on the river for those of you into crew an old club with all wood boats.
Were off to Orvieto I will get back soon I hope
Having a grand time Love to all see you soon
John and Francine
