In one of my classes, "The Villa and the Garden," we spend 2/3rds of our classtime on site. During the week, this means that our 2 hour Wednesday class is spent within Florence, but because villas are located in the countryside by definition, this also means we have many Friday Field Trips. Silvia, our professor, is really awesome though and often gives us Monday off when we go on a Friday Trip.
Our first Friday Trip was to one of the Medici Villas, which is particularly appropriate given that a whole ton of the Renaissance Villas were built for various Medicis. Villas are pretty self exlanatory, so I'll just let you enjoy the photos. I'll try and scan my sketches of the interior and upload them eventually (I've gotten in the habit of sketching spaces when they don't let us take pictures!). I loved every minute of exploring the villa. I hope you enjoy the photos!
