ok well iām here in an internet kind of center instead of the mc donalds or at the school. the school teachers are having a meeting today so there will be no class. ok, just like the US. the woman who runs it is a living doll. definitely italian but argentinian born. her name still escapes me. she gave me a caffe today just because i guess. what a sweetie. her inglese is pretty darn good. she helps me when i have any kind of issue. today the computer next to me went kaput! and she was down there trying to get it going. iiyiyiyi mammma mia!! no kidding, she and many others say that...so fun. she compliments my poor attempts and i am not to proud to say the BRAVA comments help a lot....guess the inner bambina lives.
I decided before little Pietro came over this morning to just be a tourist today. the family doesnāt tell me ahead of time whatās what so i decided to just do it. my first stop is the chiesa with the last supper. then if time and energy allow the others in the nw part of milano. but before i left pietro came over because the daycare teachers are on strike...really? yup. i asked siria what they want and she said "the usual, more soldi (money) and fewer hours" ha! soooo, nonna is on call. well, she was already tired and heād been there about 15 minutes. not naughty at all just very talkative ( a piccolo bambino speaks such fine italiano) and curious. he wanted nonnoās tools....a teeeny little screwdriver, wrench, pliers and hammer. siria gave me the names of these things but it didnāt stick. he is a cutie, hed look up and say something brilliant (his italian is amazing) and do a thing with what ever tool he picked up and just go to town on that little board. the family is full of engineers, pharmacists, mathematicians, and chemists. his papa is a computer engineer like his zio Alberto. who knows what the next generation will turn into.
the family thinks the weather is freddo, ccccoooolddd) uh no. its about 60 degrees and humid. nice i think. i try to tell them what kind of cold we have but they just fuzz over. camųt really imagine it.
i noticed the other day that ernesto had a little tin of biscotti (cookies) that he would pull out to have with his afternoon caffe. so i stopped into a pasticceria to get him a few cookies, and they just sit. just like the frutta i bought for them. mmmmmmok im getting the idea i shouldnt try to contribute. Siria is always saying ahhh kari(eeen) when we come to nebraska then.....mmmthey wonāt come to nebraska even if they were spry enough. to visit nebraska? mmmmmaybe, but.....
i watch the news with ernesto and siria during cena (dinner) and then if iām lucky a few minutes of Who wants to be a millianare. i seem to understand it better. things are gellling a little better.
today...the last supper. ciao a presto, k
