Greetings faithful travel blog readers! I hope everyone is doing well in what Ive heard is the rainy season in the northeast US. Up front aplogies for no punctuation, these crazy italian keyboards have a à where an apostrophe should be and a _ where the ? should be. At least the letters arent all mixed up like in France. So anyway, since our last entry we spent a lovely evening sitting on the rock beach in nice with some of our new hostel to hostel-fickle friends. Then it was off on a train to Milan, our first taste of italy. and quite a delicious taste, I might add. Staying with an old english student of my good old dad, made us delicious lasagna and fruit salad, and tonight spaghetti carbonara and gelato, amazing. Laura and I ventured out with Marina last night to see a police cover band that didnt quite know all the words, or in fact english, but was entertaining nonetheless. Unfortunately the few phrases we picked up at Robertas house (I miss you, my name is, I am full, and spoon), were not helpful in communicating with the natives. Perhaps another week in Italy will cement our
understanding of the language. Explored Milan today, spent most of our time with our feet in a giant fountain and searching for the best gelato place, started with lemon and mango, and plan to eat one or more every day for the next week. Watched the simpsons in italian. Unfortunately, our streak was broken and Laura managed to lose her toothbrush. passports still present. love to all.
also in lauras words, avalon is unlobstered and yes it is true, I am now beautifully tan.

oops forgot to sign it.
love, av
Of all things for Laura to lose!
Thanks for expanding my awareness. I really thought all keyboards were the same. Except maybe in the Middle East, Asia, and Russia...and maybe not in Machu Picchu, lol. Susan
I'm sure there's no significance whatsoever to a future dentist losing her toothbrush in Italy. Happy Fourth of July. (It's been a wet day here in the Midwest also)
I'm sorry but I can never give my approval to a tan.
Laura, did you figure out what gave you hives? You said it was very hot in Milan, could it have been a heat rash and not hives? I understand that you now have an Italian toothbrush. Does it have a sleek design like Italian sports cars :)?
Love,
Mom
