(Sunday March 14) Since the only channel broadcast in English is CNN (snore), we've been watching a lot of Italian TV. We are completely hooked on "Affare Tuoi" an Italian game show loosely based on deal or no deal. We have set our watches to be sure to be in the room at 8:45 PM every night so we can watch it. We also really like the DeeJay channel, an Italian music video channel.
On Affare Tuoi, instead of suitcases they use big, antique-looking boxes. Instead of hot models, the people holding/opening the boxes are potential contestants, each from one of the various Italian regions (e.g., Rome, Puglia, Tuscany, etc). The contestants so far have been a series of hot moms (per Scott) and a guy who looked like Mario from Super Mario Brothers. No one ever seems to win anything. We think it's fixed - none of the banker's "offertas" is ever accepted. If they were, I guess the show would be really short. The most entertaining part is when someone picks the "Coccodrillo Box" from which a CGI crocodile hops out and starts singing. We think this means "exchange" - at which point the contestant can trade her box for someone else's sing and dance to the "Coccodrillo Song" which seems to be a cross between the happy birthday song and the hokey pokey. Scott and I have both learned the Coccodrillo song and now dance around the room when it comes on (ok, it is mostly me that dances and Scott mostly laughs). The genius/lunatic who came up with this video is not someone I would want to meet in a dark alleyway but the video is utterly brilliant.
