We arrived in Italy on Saturday, May 20, and met up with our tour group in Santa Margherita on Sunday. Since then, we've been too busy hiking and eating to blog.

I'll add a few photos here, but we'll have many more to share when we return.

Santa Margherita
This is a view from our first hike up into the botanical garden overlooking Santa Margherita.

First glimpse of the Cinque Terre
Although we had hiked up into a cloud, our lunch spot provided our first glimpse of the actual Cinque Terre - the Five Lands.

Riomaggiore
We spent two nights in one town of the Cinque Terre - Riomaggiore. This shot shows the town as it appears from the water front.

The hike to Portovenere
In the center of the photo, the two farthest bits of land you can see are two small islands. This hike took us from Riomaggiore to Portovenere, which is just off the photo, to the left of those two islands. This was probably our longest hike, but was very beatiful. Today is our last day of the REI tour, and we will be ferrying out to the larger of those islands, and then hiking its perimeter.
