woke up from the damn church bells, also bc we were excited to get up. i left jenn in bed and went walking around town to look for a place to wash clothes. found the only place in town, 4 washers 2 dryers, 1 dryer broke, cost .... 5euro. i went and grabbed myself a formaccia sandwich, i fell in love with them things!!!!. walked to the marina and found our restaurant we had reservations for that night, looks ...umm alright i guess. went to the barrier wall between marina and sea and saw jenn come out on the balcondy about 20 stories above me. went back to room and got her. we walked around riomaggiore, put a load of laundry in and grabbed another small bite to eat. eating is so addictive over there. got our washed clothes, dryer was in use and decided not to dry, so we hung them up in the room. small mistake. tell ya later. took a quick train to monterossa, the 5th town that we didnt make it to yesterday. we walked around town, put my feet in the ligurian sea. i bought a 5terre jacket and we finally bought our olive oil and pesto sauce and 2 more bottles of 5terre wine. we shared a pesto mushroom anchovie pizza, it was outstanding except for the fresh salty anchovies. after walking around and eating some more formaccia bread we got on a train back to riomaggiore. we sat in bed and pre planned rome. i tried to nap but jenn.... jenn kept me awake by poking me... damn it jenn i was tired!!!
we check on our laudray.... still mostly wet.... didnt feel like hauling it down and waiting, so we left it to dry over night. we walked to bar central and had some drinks. i had a great very freshly made and tasty mohito, jenn has a cosmo i think. then i had a local beer... forgot name we sat waiting for our reservation time. we walk to the place and relize that you didnt need reservations. the website gave the illusion you needed them i guess to make the place seem better. well our reservations where for 9pm at the only table with a sea view... well fuck they just sat some couple down there, so there went that. so we had dinner, which sucked, i ordered what i thought was pesto chicken, jenns fish was priced per gram, horrible fucking meal!! and to top this whole event off.... the damn price was 70euro, the most expenive dinner for the whole trip!!! it wasnt even worth it, should have known, the menu was in russian, english, german, italian. the tip was not include (which lures american saps) and the servers where in jeans and tshirt. i will say that i think that this place could cater toward locals.... and maybe they enjoy those 'local' flavors. by the way this place was called 'la lanterna'. we this place made me and jenn pissy the rest of the night. at the time, that mean costed me 105 american dollars and it was worth about 20pesos. anyways, back to hotel and to bed. oh and pesto was invented in this area, and by two fuck ups and the 2 dinners, i only got to have pesto once, from lunch the first day and it was shipped frozen, so i never got fresh pesto here and the pissed me off soooo much. writing this blog makes me think that no pesto was the biggest mess up of the trip. oh well
