Rome, Italy
Yup, that's a man behind me! A lot of locals will dress up for money like this... Well, last Tuesday we got up extra early & went to Rome until Friday morning. I know that Rome is really famous & it's supposed to be this amazing city, but I really didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. First of all...it's HUGE. Anybody that really wants to see everything in that city needs to be there for about a week, possibly more...we went on multiple tours & by the time we were supposed to leave I was ready...I think it's just extra touristy to me & (not to sound coldhearted) there are beggars EVERYWHERE. They follow you everywhere & just try to trick you into anything they can to get money from you. I got really irritated, really quick. It's sad at times though. Then there are those that just dress up or do something cool for money. For example, I was sitting in the middle of Piazza del Popolo & my friend Amy heard Michael Jackson come on...so she got up & walked to the other side of the fountain (it's huge, we couldn't see around it) & there was a guy dressed JUST like MJ & dancing...he knew every move & made a ridiculous

Spanish Steps..full of tourists of course amount of money in the 15-20 minutes that he performed. But it was entertaining & he was pretty good honestly...nobody can really compare to MJ though 😉 & yes, Kamal I thought of you the whole time!!
I enjoyed walking around MUCH more at night when there weren't as many people out on the streets & I could just go to all of the fountains & famous buildings to see them lit up. The Trevi Fountain is definitely on my top 5...I loved it! Also on my top 5 was the Coliseum...OMG! I couldn't believe I was there, all I could think about was the movie "Gladiator" 😊 ALSO, if you're even slightly interested in modern architecture this will make you jealous...well it should anyway 😉 I went to the MAXXI Museum designed by Zaha Hadid, one of the few famous female architects that just blows my mind. It was awesome!!! She is just brilliant...
A few of us attempted to do a Pub Crawl one night & it seemed extra shady so we went home after the 1st bar...I just don't trust anybody over here & I got a really weird feeling about it so I backed

Spanish steps at night! out! But the last night we really got to see the night life & it was so much fun!! Honestly that's about all I have to say about Rome...there are SO many churches & other famous buildings that I could go on & on FOREVER about but unless you're interested in architecture it will probably bore everyone!
Friday morning we woke up early again to leave Rome for Sorrento, where we stayed Friday & Saturday night. Sorrento is along the coast, southwest of Castiglion Fiorentiono (my home). It's also close to Capri, which is where we spent all of Saturday. It is SO beautiful! The water is insanely clear blue...ahh I can't even explain! As soon as we got to Capri (there were 8 of us), we rented a boat all to ourselves, no tour guide. We felt so free!! It was only 20 euro each person for 3 hours, which ends up being a little less than $30. It was completely worth it! We did a quick run through the grocery store before getting on the boat & bought lots of fruit, hot dogs, cheese & crackers, etc so that we could eat lunch on the boat. It

Beautiful garden was the perfect day, we anchored the boat in the middle of the water & had a little picnic 😊 Just imagine it for a second....
....jealous? Hehe
Also, we stopped & jumped off cliffs again...our group loves to explore 😊 & we swam through this beautiful cave...I could see everything under me!! It was kind of scary honestly because I watched the movie Sanctum...but I made the best of it! When we got back to the boat rental place we took a ferry back to Sorrento & had a "pot luck" dinner where everybody brought a dish! It was mainly a girls group & a guys group...not so much individually making stuff. We stayed in these tiny cabins that had mini kitchens so there wasn't much to cook with but we made it work...SO much fun! I've really grown close to this group of 7 that I always travel with, they are awesome & it feels like family 😊 I am so happy!!!!!!
Sunday was a bit exhausting, we traveled all day to get back to Castiglion Fiorentino. We had to take several trains & unfortunately Naples was a connecting point. UGH! Such a sketchy town...I

2 pugs :) This is for Heather, of course... felt like people were constantly watching me & my bags, I really thought I was going to get robbed. It's disgustingly dirty...trash all over the streets, graffiti on EVERYTHING...just gross. My friend Jae got his camera stolen on the train in Naples too. If I can avoid ever going back there I will!!
I've had a couple of busy days with school & I'm getting sick so I'm not in the best of moods...but I still manage to smile every day. This is truly a blessing. Tomorrow we are going to Assisi for our day trip, we leave at 8am (1am your time). I don't really know more than that...I don't know much about the town so I'll have to tell everyone more later! Love you all to pieces, talk more later! Xoxo
