In the City

One of my favorite things to do out here is to just put on my headphones and wander around the city. I don't have to have any sort of specific goal in mind or place to be... I just love wandering around and getting lost. There are lots of cool modern city aspects to Rome even though it is incredibly old and the highlights are more focused on the old architecture. Somehow it becomes this blend of many things and I feel it is interesting enough to share.

The graffiti around here is pretty interesting, it is used more as a medium for odd expression as opposed to gang warfare. I have a few pics in here from riding around on the metro line A which is a fairly new metro line however the other day I rode on metro line B and I felt like I was on the movie Beat Street. The entire outside of the metro was completely covered in this big grand design of graffiti. The inside of metro B was pretty ugly but the outside was pretty cool!

Speaking of metros, trains, and trams... Rome also has a lot of weird signs warning you not to do stupid things like stick your hand in the doorways while the doors are closing. I always look at them and think "what stupid person would do that?!". Ehhh that would be me!! Last week when Erin and I were trying to get home, some boys had sat down next to us and were being quite annoying so we were desperate to get off and made a last minute decision to get off and the doors were closing. Out of habit I stuck my hand out as if it were a closing elevator door and I totally smashed my hand! Fortunately the driver saw this and opened the door again because how embarresing would it have been if he had driven off and I was still stuck?! I said to Erin "AHHH I'm one of those dumb people in the signs!".
