The pictures I am putting up are a collection from a couple of different nights where I have gone out with Erin and Mila.
Erin is a girl about my age who is from Washington, I met her about 2 weeks ago when she came here to Au Pair for a different family that is friends with the family I work for. I'll never forget the moment I met her, I was cooking my first Mexican meal in Italy. She came in and I could tell she was already having a difficult time communicating with people, which in the future has made for some good laughs! I sat her down and gave her the low down on what it is REALLY like to be here having to take care of the children and how difficult it has been for me. She still seemed very optimistic though.
The next time I called her and was surprised that she said yes when I asked if she wanted to go out with me for a gelato and I was so excited to have my first night out of the house with someone who spoke English! Truly when you find someone nice who
speaks English, it is like finding a gem. We went out and talked and talked and talked. It was very nice for me and the start of something very very good.
Mila, I met at a birthday party a week before meeting Erin. We had so much fun laughing and joking together, I could tell that Mila's personality was a very good match with mine because she laughs at all my jokes and stories :) I love to tell stories because there are so many bizarre things that happen to me, and you can tell she really enjoys hearing them. We were supposed to hang out the next day but for some reason her phone broke and we couldn't get in touch.
The day after Erin and I had gone out to get gelato, there was another birthday party where Erin's Au Pair kids were there... and Mila's as well so we all got to sit down and chat. The three of us together are quite a group! I'm the loud/friendly/obnoxious one who gets us into trouble but I help us to meet a lot of people this way, I will talk to almost anyone and I don't

know when to shut up. Mila is our map and translator, she is like the sugar that makes everything even better. She knows where to go, where we should hang out etc and she is so bubbly and carefree once you get to know her. Erin is great to have around because she doesn't know the language very well, this sometimes gets us into trouble but more often has been a great device to use to ward off unwanted attention. I discovered that because she looks so American... she gets much much more attention from boys and the funny part is that she isn't very interested in them and that makes the boys try even harder to get her attention. Anytime Erin doesn't like someone or feel comfortable with what they are saying, she plays dumb and this frustrates them to the point where they just leave. Its a clever tactic I would never have thought to use and since I look Italian it doesn't work nearly as well.
I have very much enjoyed our time together and we always meet new people, always more boys. Girls never want to talk to us but thats ok. I hope we
Photo 4I believe this is in Piazza Novona
all keep in touch and that I have more to write about them later.
Photo 5The fountain is supposed to be a portrayal of all the major rivers in the area.
Photo 6Each one of the statues respresents a river, like the Nile.
Photo 7This is one of the bridges you can take to get to St. Peter in the background. St. Peter is the Vatican church.
Photo 8Along the sides of the river are many bars, sometimes discos, but in general many markets you can buy stuff at.
Photo 9In front across the bridge is the St. Angelo Castle which was used by the popes.
Photo 12Erin gets harrased a lot on the buses.
Photo 13We get a lil goofy on the bus after having to wait for so long.
Photo 15Mila got all dressed up for our last evening out.
Photo 17I took a picture of them taking a picture of themselves.
Photo 19The funny things Romans do with their fruit....
