After living like a Roman for only 7 days, I already have a feelings to know how the every day life looks. Since I always stayed with friends or couchsurfing and no hotel, I got to live with real Romans, go out with them, eat with them, eat what they eat and so on. In this period of time Life in Rome meant driving very drunk at night, drinking Peroni, cooking delicious food and eating many times a day, drinking Roman wine, being late, avoiding tourists and spending every second evening in a cheap bar with friends until early morning. Many bars close around 2:00 and then groups of people wander the city to find an open bar.
Also it was one of my most adventurous travels ever and also best fun.
In Rome there is no special need to go "sightseeing" because you will see everything anyway. The city center is smaller than most people think and you can get everywhere by foot, but better by car ;)
It's better not to follow any guide, but follow your feet and your eyes.
Also Italians are very guest-friendly and help you out with everything. The center is rather expensive
and hotel prices are really high. And what's the fun sitting in an empty hotel room?
All in all, this was one very mad and adventurous trip that was over too early.
Oh and I didn't notice both earthquakes..During the first one I slept, and when the second one happened I was out drinking. Hah! The luck of the silly and the drunk.
