Checked out of the Alma Domus no prob and then the adventure begins!!!!!
well we had some time to sorta waste so we decided to see if we could walk back to the train station, after we already said it was too far, and after i had already bought bus tickets. we started waiting for a bus, then we couldnt tell which one to catch or where so we huffed it. well we walked around our ass, a couple of times... and long story short, we got to the train station, 20min our 'train', went to buy tix and he said they stopped selling, (' the fuck you mean your not selling, you sold out?") i didnt say that but thought it. then an italian couple tried again and they got denied... well turns out that the frist leg of the trip is thru a bus!!! oh hell naw, glad they sold out of tix. so we had to wait 2.5hrs for the next train. in that mean time we snacked, drank beer, she read that damn vampire book, and we looked at an old woman with a goatee, yes tons of facial hair. ewww.
got on the train, to take us to grosseto. well lemme tell ya bout this train. it was about 12cars long. no front engine compartment though. instead the engines to drive the train were under each car. and these engine were regular diesel engines with a manual transmission, yes i swear, you can hear the gears grind a little then jump into gear and gitty up. the exhaust seeped into the passenger compartment and made us cherry. it was a slow train. in poggibonsi we switched trains to a new, high speed, comfortable, assigned seat train. whew!! there was a canadian couple we chitchatted with most of the way, even though they kept distracting me from the beautiful country side i kept talking back.
ok so we get to rome, hop off and buy a metro A subway tix to vatican square.... well... we bought a reusable subway tix, well when i put it in the scanner to open gates, i didnt pick the tix back up bc i didnt know you where supposed too... anyways, a little hectic getting on the train and just being a little plain nervous about if we are going the right way or not. so we hop off a saint peters square and from there we once again very stupidly decided to walk a-fuckin-gain. (we dont realize these dumb mistake till after we walk, other wise we would not keep making these dumb decisions, they seemed good at the time) so we walk one way.... oops map not orientated the right way, turn it a quaterturn paul, ok we go the right way.... we get to where there should be a street cutting over to the street we want...well guess what, its not there, find another way. we walk back to train station just to get to the other fork in the road. we take that road, well here come about 10 stories of stairs to climb... well jenn is slow so i picked up both luggages, bout 50lbs each and just run up these steps, i made it and was winded but shaved some time off our trip. we find our streeet, follow it all the way around the vatican city. we come to some wierd fork that is not on our map, we walk one way, we got lucky and found the street our hotel is on... but which way, we lost orientation again. decided to cross 34lanes of fast traffic ;) and we went the right way. we found our hotel, its gated and you have to be buzzed in. i was nervous that it meant we were in a bad area. we werent it was a great area, hot women, nuns, and kids walking at night time. our hotel is emaculate. very upscale looking. our room has a mini kitchen, sat. tv and an alright bed. we walked out and surveyed the area. very busy very very busy. we couldnt find an atm which wasted an hour of walking, oh but get this we passed 1 and didnt realize it, jenn found it on a street corner, GO JENN. we stopped at a pizza joint recommended from hotel and got 2 pizza to go. go back to room and jenn loved this pizza. THIS WAS THE MOST HECTIC DAY OF THE TRIP, we were ready to sleep.
