First couple weeks in Rome

My first week with my host family, and first week of classes went very well. The only mess was trying to figure out where my suitcase had disappeared to, I was told it was in Milan, Germany and then Milan again…who knows where it actually was, probably in Rome the entire time. Classes went very well, I have Italian five days a week for three hours for eight weeks…all I know is after that much Italian I better be a pro. Those classes go faster than I was imagining they would. I absolutely love my Art and Architecture class. For our first class, we were set loose to do a scavenger hunt of ancient ruins. The second class I was running a little late and the rule is that if you’re late you have to pay your way into the museums. Well that was the last thing I wanted to do, so I saw the steps that I thought I was told to go up to meet the class, after sprinting up the 125 steps to a beautiful church only to find that I needed to go just a tad further to the much easy to climb steps. Nevertheless, it was another great class spent at the Capitoline Museum. My literature class is also enjoyable and very hands on as well. The first weekend we had a trip to a small, non-touristy, Italian town of Sperlonga that had a beautiful beach. It was a great relaxing day, spent enjoying the beach and also walking around the charming town on these amazing cliffs, definitely picturesque. The rest of my weekend was spent getting to know the little area around my house, and catching up on homework. When I went back to school on Monday of the next week I had the lovely surprise of my suitcase waiting for me! I of course went straight home and excitedly unpacked its contents. The rest of the week was pretty much filled with getting into routine, becoming familiar with what the city has to offer, and getting to know my Italian family and the other students in the program. I also was very excitedly waiting for the next weekend to arrive, because that was when my trip to Cinque Terre was planned
