I got back really late from my Naples trip, and therefore got up late and missed the time slot that I had wanted to go on a tour for the Vatican and St. Peters. I went out to see the rest of the sites and take more pictures. The Spanish Steps (Spagna) was my first stop. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Steps] . BTW, it is very hard to get a good picture with all the people that are around. Especially when people decide to walk right in front of you when you are taking a picture. I went to a bar here, and got gelato and a cappuccino (which ended up being free btw, the guy liked me haha). I got chocolate chip gelato here, it was yummy, and so was the cappucino. The Trevi Fountain [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trevi_Fountain] is a baroque fountain, and I did see this early, but it was at night, and like I said at the time I could not get my camera to get a good picture of it. I think I have now figured that all out, minus the fact I apparently do not have a steady hand because when i go to take a picture without a flash it is
fuzzy : ( Again, this place is very crowded whether you come at night or during the day. Next was the Pantheon [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheon,_Rome], this is such an amazing building especially since it sort of comes out of no where when you are walking down the road towards the piazza. It is so huge! Another example of a building that was originally a pagan temple for Roman gods, and then used for the Catholic church.
On my way back to the metro, I passed by a gelato bar. I went in and there were so many flavors!! I counted 118 flavors. So, I got some more, Tiramisu and Chocolate Amareto.
I went out to eat, again by myself, and got a Pizza Margherita and a Limoncello. I had a limoncello in the states, to have something to compare the Italian ones too. The one that I got in Buffalo has got nothing on the one that I had here! A limoncello is a lemon liqueur produced in Italy. It was super strong, it was a good thing I was eating something or I would have been falling out of my chair.
After this, I went to the train station to buy
my train ticket to Florence, and my credit card was denied. Which is fantastic, because I thought there was a reason I called them before I left to let them know I was going to be using my card in Italy. I had to call them using my other credit card to pay for the call, in the train station, which is very very loud, so I could not hear most of what they were saying. Eventually, the security hold on my credit card was lifted, and I bought my train ticket, even if I was very very disgruntled.
Pantheoninside the building. Sorry, it is a little fuzzy. My camera skills need improvement.
Pantheonviewing the ceiling, which has a circular hole where light comes down and into the building.
