Ciao!
I cant believe that Im already in Rome! Where has the time gone? The eternal city is fast paced and bustling, even with the minor rain tha t appeared this morning torists crowd the streets. Last night we stayed in a hostel run by russians. Of all the nice hotels I have stayed at along my trip, this dump is the only place I took any pictures. It was too classic not to! By far the most getto of all places to stay in Rome. Luckily the shambles of this place is far outshadowed by the history and grandure of rome. The insignificance of a lifespan becomes so apparent as I look at two-thousand year old buildings. The Vatican with its four miles of museums dating back to the egyptians, culminating in the Cistine Chappel - a shocking display of artwork - makes me want to live a bigger, more spectacular life.
At the moment we are killing time before embarking on a night walk through the sites. The Trevi fountain, four rivers fountain, spanish steps and many more iconic treats await.
As I continue to sample gelatto from all the areas of Italy, my pants are becomming tight and my wallet skinny, but I wouldnt have it any other way. I am tasting and experiencing all the fullness of life and loving every moment.
Andrew flys out of Rome on Thursday and I head off on my own to Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. I should have more time to write as the pace of Rome dies down and I reach the layed back coastal towns.
I am trying to "be a sponge" as my Dad always advises. Im soaking it all in and loving every minute...did I already say that?? haha it must be true then!
