Small Lemons We got into Naples by train and then took to Metro to our stop where the hostel was. Rachael had to use the bathroom so she payed the 20cents and walked into the public bathrooms that are set up outside the metro. Once you put the money in the door opens. Only one person can use the bathroom at a time. The door instantly closes behind you and you are trapped until you finish your buisiness. There is a button to push that gives you about 2 squares of toilet paper at a time and you are only allowed to push it 5 times. There are no toilet seats in Italy so hovering is a must which makes things even more scary. The floor in the public bathroom is soaking wet as if someone goes in there and power washes it when your done. Once you finish you push a button that lets you out and what sounds like a car wash starts to happen when the door closes you outside.
The city of Naples is pretty dirty. Their are piles of garbage and stuff everywhere. Our hostel was right on the main street but uphill from all of the bars
thankfully. Once we found it we had to push a button for the reception to let us in. A tiny door opens up between two gigantic green doors and we were in. Once we walked in it looked like a construction site. We had no idea where to go but figured it was up. It only took us two flights of stairs for us to reach the hostel. We were greeted by the owner of the hostels son David who showed us around and gave us information on the best places to go and easiest ways to get there. We settled into our 8 bedroom dorm and grabbed some dinner from the local grocery stores.
The second day we were in Naples we took a tour up to the volcano of Vesuvious. The famous volcano that covered the city of Pompei in ash in 1947. We then got to see the city of pompei and after much confusion of map reading and no English speaking people we figured out where we were. We met a few really fun people while we were looking lost around Pompei and got to share some stories and wander around as a group for a

View of Naples from hostel balcany while. Pompei was much bigger than we were expecting it to be. A guy that we met while walking around gave us a personal tour basically about the history of the city. It was so nice of him and really interesting. We have some amazing pictures of the ruins and some great stories for when we get home.
We went to the island of Capri which is about an hour away from Naples. Shelly found out what it feelsl ike to have motion sickness but I think that man sitting next to her was more scared than she was. The Island was beautiful even from the boat. It was the island where the Roman Emporer used to vacation and the current vacation place of many famous people today. We got to do a hike around the city and the gardens and ran into one of the couples we met in Pompei which was really fun. Shelly got was has to be the best lemon slushy ever, made out of lemons the size of our heads.
Our last day in Naples we spent walking around the city shopping. Shelly finally found the shoes she's been looking for our entire trip and

Eat Pray Love we got to eat pizza at the place where "eat pray love" was filmed. The pizza was by far the best we've had our entire time in Italy. They had two kinds, cheese, or without cheese. The pizza is really simple, thin crust, olive oil, water, basil, tomatoes, mozzarella and put in the oven but noone could ever remake it. It was sooooooo good. After our tummys were filled we went back to the hostel to pack up our things and head back up the coast to Cinque Terre. 😊 We love Italy!
