''...the green and troubled land of
tourist brochures and news headlines.''

Quote from: Ireland, A Novel by Frank Delaney

Warmed and cooled by the North Atlantic stream and location respectively, Ireland is never extremely cold or extremely hot.

This celtic isle is stoney grey, rugged mountains, cliffs and dewy greenness. Windswept and misty, you will likely need an umbrella anytime.

From the ring of Kerry to the tatched cottages of Conamera to the Giants Causeway, may the road rise to meet you and may your hassles be small ones.

Ireland has folklore, lively music, dance and haunting ballads. Kiss the Blarney stone and join the locals in one of the pubs which outnumber just about everything for a pint of black and tan, or ten. Then rise up yer skirts and kick up yer heals for a bit of mighty craic with fiddles, harps, jigs and reels.

Day 4 Europe » Ireland » County Dublin
Today we stopped in town and went to Dublin Castle, and went into a small church with nice architecture and traditional Anglican style. the national art museum in Ireland, and the national history museum.. the national history one was no way as good as the one in London, there were really limited fossil and rock displays, mostly they were reconstructions of birds and animals living in certain history periods, and most of the displays were covered up with leather covers and so we had to lift them up to see what was inside. It would have been so much better and [View Full Entry]

Back in Dublin Europe » Ireland » County Dublin
We're back in Dublin and thought we'd make one final entry from Ireland. This one doesn't have any pictures, but on the request of some people, here are our thoughts about our time here: The scenery was incredible. Based on the couple of pictures we sent, you can see that the terrain was rather rugged in Northern Ireland, particularly in County Antrim. When we got to the Cliffs of Moher it was raining, so those photos won't show the cliffs in all their beauty, but it was still a sight to see. We have both enjoyed driving through the smaller towns [View Full Entry]

So I came home...after all the excitement, after trying so hard to miss every boat and plane possible....and god knows there was alot to miss on my 3 day journey home! The pilot announced our descent into dublin, the view of patchwork fields almost has me doubting why I want to leave this place so much...and suddenly just as i recognised a land mark, visability is gone and the plane as with dublin is incased with grey skys and biting rain.....ugh! Well it keeps up my record of never landing in Dublin in sunshine! always being told that "it was sunny [View Full Entry]

Hello all! Sorry - it has been a while since the last update - that was Dublin. We have been travelling up the eastern side of the coast of Ireland. We made it through Belfast just to leave and hear of the political problems that they are having - over 700 people rioting through the streets. I am glad we missed that... We will attach a few pics for you. You will see the Silent Valley, Monasterboice, Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge, Slieve League, and the Causeway. Ireland has been very beautiful and we have experienced very little rain. We are now in [View Full Entry]

Another morning at the keyboard as the rain comes down outside. There were plans of more golf today but its unlikely now. The forecast isn't good but I'll be leaving here tomorrow morning (on a 7am flight) back to London. I have one week back in Fulham courtesy of Dom and Amanda and then heading off to Seville in Spain. As many are aware the final Ashes test started yesterday but there isn't much cricket on the TV here in Ireland despite the fact that they have qualified for the next cricket world cup in the West Indies (something I wasn't [View Full Entry]

An afternoon’s golf in Ballybunion. Thursday 8th September. Spent the morning preparing for an afternoon’s golf at Ballybunion. I had not really intended playing any golf here, especially as I hadn’t hit a ball in anger for about three years but after enjoying hitting an hour of practice balls at the driving range I was inspired to take up cousin Paudie’s offer of a round of golf on the famous course. As mentioned in my first Irish entry, things are very expensive in Ireland and a round of golf would usually set you back €135 however, as my cousin is a [View Full Entry]
