''...the green and troubled land of
tourist brochures and news headlines.''

Quote from: Ireland, A Novel by Frank Delaney

Warmed and cooled by the North Atlantic stream and location respectively, Ireland is never extremely cold or extremely hot.

This celtic isle is stoney grey, rugged mountains, cliffs and dewy greenness. Windswept and misty, you will likely need an umbrella anytime.

From the ring of Kerry to the tatched cottages of Conamera to the Giants Causeway, may the road rise to meet you and may your hassles be small ones.

Ireland has folklore, lively music, dance and haunting ballads. Kiss the Blarney stone and join the locals in one of the pubs which outnumber just about everything for a pint of black and tan, or ten. Then rise up yer skirts and kick up yer heals for a bit of mighty craic with fiddles, harps, jigs and reels.

Everyone seemed to ask me, “Was Ireland what you expected,” and knowing already that there would be slanted rain, tractors on the roads and stonewalls, Ireland still surprised me! Within the first 4 days I experienced the true Irish culture…I had told Joe that it still hasn’t hit me that I will be in Ireland and even more of a shock that I would be meeting his parents for the first time. As soon as we landed, I didn’t want to get off the plane and it finally sunk into realization 110%. We drove back to the village of Caherlissakill, Monivea [View Full Entry]

Ever wonder? Ha, it's all pure craziness! Life is beyond crazy...just when you expect something to happen that you've been waiting for to happen and reallu think it's God's will, it switches! Okay, I must have seriously confused you there so I'll explain... Today was great because I started work at the hostel, www.paddyspalace.com. Lots of fun to be had for sure but of course a lot of work as well. After having one of those horrible nights of 'no-sleep' (because of a SNORING man beneath my bunk)...I realised just how faithful God really is. I mean, here I am in [View Full Entry]

After our first few days on getting to know the area, and having class in the morning time(our only time of class on the entire trip) the professor planned a group trip to the Dingle Peninsula, led by the infamous Michael kissane (MAD MIKE!!!) I can not get over this guy.. he is absolutely terrible, and perverted.haha but it was funny. we nick named him MAD MIKE. So we started out in the bus going out of Tralee, towards the Dingle Peninsula. We stopped at a fabulous view of the Irish quilt(as people would say) In my opinion, this picture describes [View Full Entry]

AGGHHHH! Life. Europe » Ireland » County Dublin
Well, I'm here. Yeah, so Ireland still rocks...but it's getting a little tough to live! Yuperidoo-dah, Shannon is having a tough time in this thing called LIFE... Recently, I have been looking around for a job. Although I had been doing this without truly seeking and asking the Lord where I should be in Ireland. Hmmm, bling bling!! Problemo?! After really realising that I should not be in Dublin for the reasons of having a good job or making good money, I should be here for serving the Lord! To learn what He would have me learn about moving, friendships, giving, [View Full Entry]

Weekend in Cork Europe » Ireland » County Cork » Cork
This weekend Jay and I went to Cork, Ireland to visit our friend Ryan from Swarthmore. We got in late Friday night and met up with Ryan. We dropped our stuff off at his place and went out for the night. We got back to his flat pretty late and watched some episodes from season three of the OC on Ryan's computer. Sleepless, Jay and I caught the 6AM bus to Dublin. It was a four hour ride through some beautiful countryside. Once we got there we headed to the Guinness factory. We took the self guided tour, got our complimentary [View Full Entry]

Day 3 Europe » Ireland » County Dublin
Today we drove to Malahide Castle NE of Dublin, north of Howth. It was a really special place! Lotsa green grounds around, and the castle itself had a coffee room with nice displays of castle-y things. We had a bowl of chips-irish chips are realllyy nice, probably because they eat so many potatoes. We drove to Phoenix Park as well-the largest park in the world! there was a zoo but we didn't get to see any animals on our drive through! it was very pretty though. Later we went to Trinity College in town, parking outside the National History Museum. The [View Full Entry]
