''...the green and troubled land of
tourist brochures and news headlines.''

Quote from: Ireland, A Novel by Frank Delaney

Warmed and cooled by the North Atlantic stream and location respectively, Ireland is never extremely cold or extremely hot.

This celtic isle is stoney grey, rugged mountains, cliffs and dewy greenness. Windswept and misty, you will likely need an umbrella anytime.

From the ring of Kerry to the tatched cottages of Conamera to the Giants Causeway, may the road rise to meet you and may your hassles be small ones.

Ireland has folklore, lively music, dance and haunting ballads. Kiss the Blarney stone and join the locals in one of the pubs which outnumber just about everything for a pint of black and tan, or ten. Then rise up yer skirts and kick up yer heals for a bit of mighty craic with fiddles, harps, jigs and reels.

Well I did a tour of Blarney castle, Kinsale, and Charles fort last week i think. Trying to keep everything fresh in my head. THe Castle was sweet, dungeons, escape tunnels, and of course the Blarney stone. Apparently it was brougth from Isreal along ass time ago split inhalf and the other half is kept in Edinborough castle. When prince Charles turns king he will get them or something?? Pretty cool. So I got to kiss this rock that has been kissed for the last 500 years or so. YUmmy. Hopefully i will bring me good luck as they say. But [View Full Entry]

After enjoying a farewell meal at a local restaurant (if I’d known how many sandwich-type foods I’d be eating on this trip, I might not have had a sandwich for my farewell meal), we were at the airport and on our way. We had to connect in Toronto, where we had a 5 hour wait for our flight to Dublin. We occupied ourselves by having some really terrible chicken wings and downing Diet Cokes that had to be poured into cups because of the ban on liquids. We also heard a few Irish accents and saw a few Irish passports, which [View Full Entry]

Yesterday Kristen and I got into a bit of a fight. It started as soon as we woke up. The alarm went off at 7:30, I forced myself out of bed by 7:45 and was down to breakfast by 8. Kristen hadn't gotten outta bed until I was on my way to breakfast... so i figured we'd be taking a later train today since we would had to of left by 8am to make it to a 9am train. Well apparantly it was all my fault that we were late. It didn't help that once we got close to the tube [View Full Entry]

well what a cool small city. I mean like literally 4000 pubs to choose from. I was in Heaven. Catching up on the blogs here I'm actually in Cork now. While in Dublin I checked out all the major atractions all which were within walking distance. Mom u would love all the parks with serious gardens. A fulltime staff taking care of them. So nice. And Dad u would be in heaven @ the old Jameson's distillery. I learned how to make whiskey. Gonna start as soon as i get home LOL. But Irish whiskey is the only type distilled 3 [View Full Entry]

city of Hen's nights - yes we had to use umbrella's in the pub
Well I ended up getting a couple of days work from Jules sister which was good to help fund our weekend in Dublin!! Alana and I jetted off on Friday night (our first flight together in 6 years!!! Wierd) after our 'quiet' thursday night before heading to Dublin for Fran's Hen night (one of Alana and Jule's best mates), we actually ended up getting rather pissed with everyone and were rather hungover! My first impressions of Ireland - rain, rain, cute accents, rain, rain, oops beer, rain, beer - you get the picture. We spent Saturday eating, then went to the [View Full Entry]
