Hey all... sorry for the lack of communication. I had such an amazing time on the Islands. It was unbelievable. Those clifs on Inishmore were breathtaking. Not sure if I told you about Paolo (From Venice, Italy)... he was so funny and shared a room with the 4 of us at Manistir House on Inishmore (see picture in previous blog). So, the night after the big hike we cooked dinner and ate the same as the night before (good veggies). After dinner, we all went out to the pub (Paolo too) and it was a great time. Sat outside at a place near our hostel and then took a walk to find more, but we liked the first one so we returned later. There is live music every night here and it's so nice! We had great conversation, as usual. Paolo was hysterical and then the boys all got "street meat" and that was a funny scene with a local girl. Did I tell you yesterday that I hand-washed all of my clothing in the shower and then hung it out to dry? It was actually kind of liberating. I'll show you a picture because it's funny.
So, the next morning I actually got a ride down the hill in a horse/rickshaw kind of thing from and old Irishman who hit on me the whole time telling me that "younger was better" and it was really funny because i could hardly understand a word he was saying! Then, I made my first purchase, what I have been looking forward to, a sweater made on the Islands of Aran. It is beautiful, but we're not sure where it was made. Ok, so we took the ferry over to Inisheer (the medium sized Island) and checked into Bru hostel... the cutest hostel in the world. We took a walk around the island and looked at the castle at the top of the hill. We returned and ALL of us took a short REST... Kyle and I went out for dinner (nice treat) and I had a veggie burger with a full plate of veggies! Yum! We met the boys out and had a great night of Guiness, cards (Ass hole) and great conversation. Actually, we talked politics a bit with Jonathan and Yuval which was amazing! Their insight is incredable. Did you know that everyone in istrael has to attend the Army for 3 years right out of high school? Wow...
So, after a drunken night, I walked the island during the day and saw the graveyard which was amazing...
CONTINUING FROM THIS MORNING...
Ok... so after the graveyard i laid on the rocks and wrote in my journal for a while. The weather is so weird here... it will be bright and sunny and all of a sudden it will start pouring. It's fun though... the rain is nice here.
So, Kyle and I decided to head to Galway yesterday (Sunday) and Jonathan and Yuval decided to stay on Inisheer... so... my first parting of ways. I didn't think it would be as hard as it was, but, as all of you know, i form friendships quickly and become attached! I gave them bracelets. So, I cried part of the way on the ferry to Galway and then I kinda got over it. I will go to Jerusalem to visit them sometime (Right Sar? Will you go with me?)
So, we arrived to Galway and I'm pleased to find a city. The shopping here is amazing. Our hostel is just awesome with over 150 people so there's always someone to talk to! Kyle and I are in different rooms. I met a teacher, Ben (Chicago), last night and a bunch of us went out to the pubs and had a very fun time. I sent him and my roomate, Chris (Texas) to Inishmore today and I know they'll have a great time. Ben and I have quite a bit in common. Picture coming :)
So, I am staying here until, it looks like, wednesday morning and then back to Dublin and then to London, but we'll see! Not following my schedule at all!
More from Galway later...
