Ah what a weekend. Andrea and I left the farm to head to Longford for the Banjo festival. I've wanted to go to this for years, but am always teaching! I was so excited. We had an abosolute blast ... took the bus to Cavan and then hitched our way to longford from there. Met some wonderful people along the way and had loads of laughs.
We arrived and Andrea was so tired that she went to sleep and didn't wake up until the next morning! poor Andrea! But she needed it. We were wrecked upon arriving to Longford. I went out, but was SUPER tired. I HAD to see Tony Trischka! He absolutely blew my mind. He was the thrird act on and I was able to make it thorough a little bit of Altan (who were much more energetic than the last time I saw them!) but had to go home.
I Was so excited because the combination of bluegrass and irish in one festival put me right into heaven! Quality music... serious talent. Amazing.
So excited for the weekend because I was takin' classes both days. I had a morning class with Tom Cussen and
another class then with Gerry O'Connor. Uh it was absolutely amazing! And then the madness started... there was music everywhere, in the square, in pubs, on the street... you name it. Elaine FINALLY landed in and we just had an amazing night. Met some great guys from Cavan and hung out with them most of the time... we were up until after 7am! What a fun time.
Next day I was actually able to drag myself to class with John Carty... AWESOME... we got such a fun new tune and Cora was there so we took class together :) So good... went back to the square, saw the Spanish band play again (amazing) and then headed to the pub for the best session!
I have loads of amazing videos (thanks so much to Andrea for the use of her camera) and crystal clear recordings, but I can't load them all up!
So, do enjoy what ya can see and if I get more up, I'll let ya know.
amazing.
