I need to appoligize. I have been trying to catch up on my blogs and I am trying to recall back like 8 days ago. As most of you know my memory is total rubish. So if the information is not all that exciting that is my bad. I just cant recall everything that I did. Sad I know.
But here we go none the less.
Today I have the wild atlantic ocean by my side as I cruised down the West Coast. I ran around the lunar landscape of the Burren which is rich with historical and archaeological sites. There are more than 90 megalithic tombs in the area, portal dolmens (including Poulnabrone Dolmen), a celtic high cross in the village of Kilfenora, and a number of ring forts - among them the triple ring fort Cahercommaun on the edge of an inland cliff, and the exceptionally well-preserved Caherconnell Stone Fort. Corcomroe Abbey is one of the area's main scenic attractions.
Then it was off to gaze in awe at the majesty that is the Cliffs Of Insanity (Princess Bride reference). It's actually the Cliffs of Moher, but that is where the movie was filmed. You were
not suppose to go past a certain point but if some jumps off a cliff are you going to jump off too? Of course. It was actually a littler precarious at certain points and I could only imagine with a strong wind being blown off balance and right off the cliff. Fantastic view none the less.
Then it was two nights in Killarney, Irelands premier tourist town. Music Galore.
The Next Day:
That morning was a full day tour of the Ring of Kerry. Suppossably Irelands most celebrated scenic drive. I was not that impressed. I think I saw better scenery in the Highlands of Dongal and the Dingle peninsula.
When I got back to Killarney I considered a horse led ride through the National Park on the famous Jaunting Car. But I heard from some others who did the horseback ride through the park and i decided against it. It was quite expensive and did not seem worth it.
