Oh my goodness! They were unbelievable... I never knew... I just never knew a show could be like that. SMALL venue (MAYBE 100 people), the happiest people on stage I HAVE EVER seen, full of energy, stomping feet, yelling and "whoop" "yeee" ever few seconds... just ... speachless.
I met some fantastic people yesterday. Before the show, talked for almost 3 hours with a 19 old, John, from Cork. How nice and funny was he. He might be right... Cork people are a different breed and so freakin' nice! We had fun and then I went over to Roisin Dubh (pronounced Roh-Sheen Dubb)... Francisca was there (met her out on Inisheer) with her boyfriend, Simon. That was awesome. We stood really close while she took video and I (surprise surprise) shot pictures. I did get a couple video as well. After the show finished, a woman from the Galway Chamber came up to me and asked if she could use some of my photographs for a story she was doing on Galway Sessions 2006 (this is the festival I arrived at the end of in Galway)... yeah... no hesitation there... I am currently emailing her the pictures! I will post
the link when she puts them up!
After the show, I met a gentleman named Alan... well, actually, it was strange. I was just standing next to him and he was joking with a friend, put his arm around me and said "Hey... this is my cousin, Jessica" and they believed him and then we realized he didn't ever get my name! So funny... so, he immediately made me show him my ID and we had a good laugh. Turns out he is a very famous whistle/flute player and offered me a lesson today... I am off right now to his house for a lesson! Can't wait...
Tonight, can't freakin' wait... 7pm is the beginners session I have been waiting for months to play in. I saw Mary last night and she was very excited. She asked me to bring my camera and offered to take pictures for me. I can't freakin' wait.
My box arrived yesterday with my whistles and I'm all set! yippeeeeee.
Oh... I did get an Irish phone... cheaper and easier.
Alright! That's about it!
Oh, to my pack helpers... Ma, Pam, Michael & Donna... you ARE the best. I am
doing well... wearing my sweater and birks every day so... good move.
I am headed to a Bodhran festival on Inisheer tomorrow! Island of 200 people... add 70 Bodhran players and one American camping in a tent inside an abandoned castle. Yeah. can't wait.
Smiles!
