Strep throat, Grilled Cupcakes, and Spiderman
Today I spent 3 hours at the clinic.........but they gave me drugs, YAY! I have strep, an ear infection, and an eye infection. Basically, I don't have the "luck of the Irish" at all.... I hope the leprechauns will eventually start to like me and I'll find my "pot of gold" here in Galway. OR...maybe my immune system will just get used to the rain and start working.
Some of you have requested pictures of my apartment so I tried attaching them to this post. Also, there are some pictures of the
attempt made by Federica (my housemate) and I to make cupcakes for Tommaso's 24th birthday last night. I bought him the Spiderman balloons! Basically, we didn't know the oven had a "grill" setting...whoops! We ended up grilling the cupcakes instead of baking them. So, we made a last minute run to
Dunnes (the best local grocery store) and picked up more mix.
SIDE NOTE: For anyone planning on grocery shopping in Ireland
Aldi is the cheapest place to go, but I would reccomend only using it for dry foods. Stick to
Dunnes or
Tesco for meats,
produce and milk. ALSO, you must either bring your own bag or buy a bag at ALL locations (I learned this the hard way). My contribution to the cupcakes was homemade frosting....apparently in Italy frosting is not commonly used on desserts. The Italians (Federica and Tommaso) were a little afraid that my gooey frosting would ruin the cupcakes, but they had a change of heart after a little taste test.

Tommaso ended up dipping his cupcakes in the bowl of frosting as he ate them. AND, the biggest leap of faith I got them to take was drinking a glass of cold milk with the chocolate cupcakes (it's also uncommon to drink milk with anything except coffee in Italy). I'm happy to say they weren't dissappointed. Even though "Americanizing" Fede and Tommaso has been fun I hope that they soon get over how awesome Subway, Macaroni and Cheese, and frosting are and cook me some authentic Italian food!

Haha....you would fall for that! At least because of your ADD you hopefully didn't try TOO long to find the 4leaf clover. I'm posting more pictures tomorrow of some friends and my awesome stirfry!
OK I think I fugured this out. This is really cool to read what is going on! Thanks for sharing you adventures with us. I just dropped Mea at the airport for a short trip to see the boys-Dylan, Grady and Charlie. Mea said Grady cleaned the house yesterday with Michelle and when Dylan came home was mad because "Dylan is messing up our house" Your room accommodations look awesome! Too bad about the maple syrup! What else is lacking over there? Keep the postings! I love it-Sheryl
Okay, it has been a few weeks now, where is that new do? Call home, my cell phone is dead (it drowned in diet pop).
Love,
Mom
So, I found this place called "The American Grocery Store" haha...it had maple syrup! What's Michelle and Jays email? I want to send my homepage link to them so they can check it out!
