This entry is over a month too late, but I'm putting it in anyway.
For fall break my friends and I traveled to Dublin and London for a week. This mid-semester break came at a perfect time because we were all pretty tired of Oslo and anything to do with Norway. We flew on Ryan-Air (the megabus for the skies) and arrived at our hostel that was right along the river near the temple bar neighborhood. The weather was surprisingly nice while we were there. On our first full day we went to the Guinness factory tour, which was really cool and at the end we got a free glass of their famous stout. It was probably the smoothest beer I've ever had, and I'm worried that ordering it anywhere else will just be pointless. We met a nice Wisconsin couple at the factory and reveled in our mid-western-ness. That night I enjoyed a really greasy fish and chips dinner and then went out to a local bar before heading to bed.
The next day we set out on an all-day drinking event, starting with coffee and Bailey's and mimosas in the morning and just kept going from there.
While I was only buzzed the whole day, it was so fun to be in a place where people actually talk to you in public, or even say "excuse me" when they bump into you on the sidewalk (Norwegians can be rather cold). As you can probably guess, the next day was spent mostly recovering from the day before, but some of us did make it out to the outskirts of the city along the coast. It was a relaxing a chill day.
Our last morning we snuck in sites of St Stephan's Greens and St Patrick's Cathedral. Then after loading up on souvenirs we headed off to London
