Meltem's MiNi Adventure around the island of Ireland... Yep that's right I'm off travelling again. The problem is once you've started you just don't want to stop!!! This time I thought I'd travel places closer to home, with Paddy's day coming up I thought Ireland was as good a place than any. And having good friends such as Roisin and Dave living in Dublin, whom I got to know on my travels around New Zealand, I thought I'd take the opportunity to hit two birds with one stone.
I flew into Dublin on the 17th March St Patrick's Day. I spent the day with Roisin in the city watching the parade along O'Connell Street and having an Irish stew and Guinness (Have to say its not really my cup of tea but it had to be tried and eliminated.) The streets were heaving with colour and noise. It was a merry atmosphere along with lots of under aged kids!!!
After having enough of dodging people we headed out to Rush, a little village to the north of the Dublin and joined Dave, his brother and sister in-law to be and finished off celebrating Paddy's day away from the tourists,
Irish style.
I really didn't envy Ro and Dave having to go into work the next day. After having a semi lie-in I headed off into town to do some sights and also taking a scheduled stop to the Guinness Brewery!
Now having seen Dublin I am off to discover the rest of Ireland...
Till the next blog entry!!!
