Well the typical Irish weather has caught up to us big time. It is cold, windy, and boy is it raining. This is definitely not a passing shower. We are off to county Clare to see the Cliffs of Mohr. These are the cliffs of insanity in "The Princess Bride". The weather is insanity too. The wind is whipping and the rain feels like little knives. As we approached the cliffs, we entered the visitor's center. I see many pictures of puffins. Puffins must come to this location! I begin to get excited, and cry. The thought that puffins might be nearby is overwhelming. Background: I absolutely love puffins. They are the cutest Arctic birds. Alas, as we make our way to the cliffs; I start to come down to the realization that no bird is flying in this wind. My life goal of seeing and holding a puffin must have to wait. The Cliffs of Mohr are beautiful even in this weather. The fog is low and makes the area an eerie place. There is a fort besides the cliff that some guy built centuries ago to impress the ladies. Nowadays, if a guy puts on cologne that is suppose
to impress a woman. We only stay outside for a little bit, because the weather is so bad. My raincoat holds up, but choosing to wear flip flops was not a good choice. My legs and feet are soaked and cold. I had a tea and scone to warm me up. We have 5 minutes to get on the bus and Laura went to the bathroom quick. I told her I'd be right outside, as I was standing I read the information about the Moloney (my Mom's maiden name, but her's is spelled Maloney) family crest. Five minutes pass and I look for Laura, and I can't find her. Panic sets in thinking she left and I missed the bus waiting for her. I run in the pelting rain and in flip flops. I get to the bus, and Laura was there. She didn't see me when she got out. The tour guide says I panic too much...tell me something I don't know. My panic rubbed off on Laura cause she did the same thing. Then we set off for Blarney Castle. The weather let up a bit. I think my camera broke...ugh. Don't know if it was the rain
or what? So sad! Good thing Laura has the same camera. The castle is so amazing and different than any other castle I've seen so far this trip. The walk up to the Blarney Stone is so narrow. The castle is just the ruin of what it once was. That is what makes it so beautiful. I had my antibacterial wipe all ready for when I was up to kiss the stone. Didn't want anyone else's germs. However it is was so quick,I didn't have time. A man helps you as you hold onto two bars and then you have to lean back and go down to kiss it. I couldn't move my hand to wipe it. So I kissed an area of the stone where the rain was running down. At least the germs hopefully were washed off by some rain. Haha there's the positive thing about the rain. After, visiting the castle and grounds we had lunch. I had to try Murphy's stout, since its made in County Cork. It was pretty good, similar to Guinness. Then, it was back on the bus. Now I made it to Cork. It is a great little city, that has grown to
be the 2nd most populated city in Ireland. Off for dinner at a local pub and then learning some Irish step dancing.
