Rocks outside the Blue Lagoon
Volcanic rock outside the Blue Lagoon After getting off the plane at 6:15 am in Iceland, we started our trip by going to the Blue Lagoon spa. The water there is naturally light blue from the silica, and they have mud (in buckets) you can put on. Even though it was freezing outside, the water was hot, heated naturally by geothermal energy.
From the Blue Lagoon, we headed to Reykjavik and then to Hafnarfjordur, about half an hour away from downtown Reykjavik, to drop our stuff off at our Airbnb location. We spent the afternoon walking around Hafnarfjordur and then decided to go to a couchsurfing meet up in Reykjavik. When we got back to our Airbnb at 10:30, it was still bright out and looked like early evening.
Today, we spent the day in Reykjavik. After dropping our bags off at the Vikingur guesthouse, we went out and walked around the city. We walked down the main shopping road over to the central downtown area. We visited Hallgrímskirkja, a large church and one of the tallest buildings in Iceland, where we had an amazing view of the city from the top. We then went to Harpa, Iceland's opera house. Rebecca in the Blue Lagoon Parliament, which is pronounced Althing or all thing. We ended our day by wandering around the streets of Reykjavik before heading back to the guesthouse for the night.

Welcome to Iceland
Sorry you guys had some cold, windy and rainy weather. Not untypical for Iceland but much colder than usual I am told. You guys did the right thing by plunging into the blue lagoon right away. Hope you get some ok weather while you there.
