Today was great!
We continued our lab work starting at 8:30, running some geochemical analyses in the morning. My group finished early so we had over 4 hrs before our next lab session due to the 1 1/2 hour lunch break. I went back to the hotel and took a wonderful 2 hr nap and then stopped to get some quick lunch while walking back to campus.
Our next lab session was not quite as successful since our DNA extraction showed no results but based on our other experiments, it wasn't necessarily unexpected due to the environmental conditions. Our last lab session was quick and easy and we got off over an hour early. Back to the hotel for another nap!
Ingeborg and I decided to skip the group dinner this evening and instead had a relaxing, quiet, simple meal of salads and chicken sandwiches. We're so tired of elaborate 3 course meals that take hours!
Even with shopping a bit after dinner (or more like browsing I should say since I still have not bought anything at all!) and stopping for ice cream, we've been back at the hotel for an hour now and the group is still in the
middle of dinner!
On other notes, I'm highly entertained by the fact that I appear to have picked up some kind of accent while here. I'm assuming it's because I've been spending most of my time with the Norwegians, British, Australians, and Italians.
Anyways, we need to start writing up our lab reports after we finish our few remaining experiments. For the first week time was dragging, now I can't believe I've been here for 2 weeks and only have 3 more days left!
Heading to bed early after I upload this batch of photos to Flickr. With all the sleep I got today, I'm hoping I'll be all caught up by the morning and feeling human again!
