Iceland on hooves

Well - Iceland is amazing! Had a great time - the horseriding was brilliant, and as expected, proved to be a wonderful way to see this bit of the island. My backside did suffer but it was worth it! The horses are real characters and the experience of ‘Tolting’ (their famous gait) across wonderful landscapes and riding through fast flowing rivers will never be forgotten (if not a tad scary at times)!

Good mix of a Dane, Swedes, Germans, Icelanders, myself and one other English lady Liz in group on tour. Liz was fine company in Reykjavik too. Seigrun, the wife on Fossnes farm we were based at, was impressive - feeding us all daily with home made bread and cakes, and using home grown tatties and home produced lamb in meals, ferrying us to and from other bases we had ridden to, cooking for us all at the two night stay at Geysir Hotel and smiling all the time!. She also introduced us to Brennavin, Icelandic Schnapps, (referred to as Black Death in English) on a group party night and some good songs were belted out that eve!

Reykjavik is easy to get about on foot. Had some lovely meals and snacks (in particular a large waffle with cream and jam).
