Right ... finally arrived however not without some issues
Firstly, my dad dropped me off at London Heatrow 4 hours before my flight was due to fly, can you imagine how bored i was ... i eventually checked in and headed for the nearest pub and gladly consumed a few pints before boarding my flight. The flight went smoothly enough .. by the time i got my bags it was past 00.00 Hungarian time and having foreseen this i decided to sleep in the airport, this was a bad mistake.
Laying down on the row of chairs, i closed my eyes and tried to sleep but i couldnt .. all i can say is thank god for my IPod which whittled away the hours... Anyway 7.00 rolled around and i decided to leave the airport for my hostel, not feeling awake enough to brave Budapest public transport i got on the Airport Minibus .. i should have taken public transport. We made our way down to Budapest and the driver was taking all manor of shortcuts though places wthat shouldnt be shortcuts!!! And his driving style .. assumptive and aggressive to say the least
My day has mainly been taken up by climbing hills, firstly to see the citadella and the Liberty Statue. which was errected in 1945 to mark liberation of the Fascist rule. Then trying to get up to Buda Palace i climbed another hill to find nothing but housing .. duh!!! The rest of the day was spent wondering around randomly
Will but some of the pictures up later when i find a computer with a USB connection, not the old one in our hostel.
Having been here a couple of days i find it is wierd that my hostel is mainly populated by people from Canada as i discovered my first night. We were sitting round for like 4 hours watching Hungarian MTV and sports channels and, amongst the group started chatting their was of us, 4 guys from Canada and a girl from Edinburgh ...
After deciding that we had enough of Hungarian television me, Anna (the girl from Edinburgh) and Paul from Ottawa, Canada decided to fing a pub and have a few beers. Randomly we bumped into a bunch of 4 girls, two of which were from the US and two from Australia, went out and had a dance and a few drinks and met this random old Hungarian whom was the source of our entertainment for most of the evening.
Waking up on the Thursday was diffcult to say the least, my head was pounding and i generally felt terrible. Some people were leaving .. two of the Canadanian kidss left first thing in the morning. It was a beautiful sunny day but a few people were leaving so we kinda decided to do nothing we lounged about it the common room of the hostel and were just generally lazy. A group of 12 to 14 Austrian guys turned up at the hostel to give it a bit of an international feel which i expected and another Canandian, Ben turned up as well.
We took a wonder over to the market to check out the local produce ... you could by everything and anything their it was great ... fruit to bread ... meat to hats and freshly made Goulash (i know it spelt wrongly). I brought a pot of frshly made Goulash, some fruit, a local made sandwich and a bottle of Iced Tea for lunch. Anna and Ottawa Paul left between 2pm to about 4pm. 4pm i met up with my friend Nori, she lives in Hungary and i worked with her in the summer, we had a coffee and cake and chatted.
We started to watch more Hungarian television from about 6pm drinking beers and just chilling, we were looking about at places to go out and decided on a club on a boat .. we got changed and ready upstairs in our new apartment, the 12 to 14 Austrian guys had meant that we had to move upstair to an apartment which was awesome .. like an upgrade to First Class on a plane ......
The boat sucked ... it was so dead so we decided to hit an open air club called Zold Pardon which was opposite the boat. It was the wierdiest thing every and huge dance floor that was exposed to the elements .... half way though the evening their was a short rain storm and everybody got soaked but carried on dancing it was great fun. Jordi (a Canadian guy i met on the first day) and his girlfriend left early, Hugo, yet another Canadian who was leaving to Prague the next day and Ben and myself decided to stay and see the night out it was so much fun .. the best club i have ever been to !!!!
Friday ...... It's raining and windy ..... just like being home in England, havent done anything yet ... Will updated Friday when something intresting happens
