Happy Birthday Mom! I called her once it was morning time in Vegas to wish her a happy birthday. Well, the weather in Csurgo improved enough to allow us to complete our last full day of work on the jobsite. Today, Court and I were assigned the job of anchoring in the exterior Styrofoam insulation/siding. Per Court’s urging (thank goodness), we were able to avoid the less “glamorous” job of stuffing the cracks between the siding pieces with smaller Styrofoam pieces.
As lunch approached, the weather looked as if it was going to turn cloudy and rainy again, so we headed back to the hotel. Today’s lunch featured a Hungarian-style turkey and broccoli casserole. Although it looked delicious, it was much too creamy and soggy for my liking. The pickled cucumber salad (appetizer) and peaches (dessert) made up for what was lacking with the entree though. When we returned to the jobsite, Court and I finished up with drilling and nailing in the anchors throughout the entire structure. We ended the day, joining Kevin, Kim, Jordan, and Annie with trawling on cement mortar to the Styrofoam.
Overall, it was another productive day, and thankfully so because this was
our last full day of work on the build site.
At the end of the day, the two families, who will be living in the home that we have been building, posed for pictures. Both families have two children each. Shondor and Bea have two daughters (Nora and Alasandra). Ishvan and Idilko have a son and daughter (Adam and Idilko). Both of the families worked side-by-side with all of the volunteers each day, and somewhere along the line, we became a team working toward a common goal. Both families have been so very sweet and unbelievably thankful for the time and effort that we have given to help make their dream of home ownership come true.
