HEY!
Olympia Greece, was our next destination. We arrived in the port of Katakolone, rented a van and drove the half an hour to Olympia. On the way I got to see the countryside of the Olympia area. The only difference between the Cyclades (the islands we went to last year) and this was the architecture. Usually when you think of Greece; white houses with blue domes come to mind, but not here. The architecture was a mixture of Spanish and Italian. Once at Olympia we made our way to the birthplace of the Olympics. To be quite honest when you first get inside the park it is nothing special, just a few old rocks. But the crown jewel of the site was the stadium. You walk through a lone arch and enter the stadium and its just a field of grass… with a patch of dirt track. Then you realize it is the same place that the first Olympians competed thousands of years ago, and it has a completely new meaning. It is one of the few sporting events that everyone in the world can participate in!
Ciao for now!
