Robyn and I slept in and then got on the internet at the first internet cafe we have seen where you can bring your laptop and go on for unlimited amounts of time. A nice discovery. In the afternoon we walked over to the "Blue Beach" and got an umbrella and a few rays, plus a Mediterranean dip. In the afternoon we walked around the abandoned town and then finally stopped for a drink to watch the sunset.... read more

We woke up in Santorini and had a lazy morning. I got up for the sunrise but couldn't really see it as it was on the other side of the island. I got some nice photos still of the moon over the caldera. We gently made our way down to the port of Santorini (Athinios) and made our ferry for Paros. Paros is a lovely island. A sort of mix between the streets of Mykonos with the laid back attitude of Syros. A wonderful last stop on our Greek Islands tour. We found the best food of Greece here as well. Dinner at Alygaria was a pleasent surprise. Amazing greek food, and really friendly, they took us back in the kitchen to show us all the food. When we tasted it were were really amazed with ... read more

Today we awoke in beautiful sweet hospitable glamorous photogenic friendly Oia, Santorini. What a getaway this place is! As I am writing this blog my enjoyment of life glands are tingling at the thought of the place. It is romantic and peaceful beyond anything else in this world. We woke up in a cave house that was cool even though outside was getting quite warm. We walked around and just wandered its lovely streets and passages. Oia is the kind of place that's completely touristy, but you just don't mind, and you feel sorry for all the suckers that are only in Oia for the day and sleeping in Fira. At night when the tourists leave, its all yours and you can aimlessly wander and enjoy the views everywhere you go. I would not come to ... read more

Thursday Sept 11, 2008 After anxiously awaiting the end of classes all day, finally finished up at 2:30pm. Came home, my bath tub laundry was dry! Success! Brought it all inside, did some homework, took a quick shower and packed for the weekend. Left the apartment as soon as Leslie was done class, about 6pm, for our 8pm ferry. For some strange reason, I didn’t notice until we got on the boat that my watch was 40 minutes fast, so the whole way to Piraeus (the port) I was practically running, wondering why my room mates weren’t the slightest bit worried that we were cutting it pretty close lol. We spent the night on the boat, watching strange Greek soap operas - one had a man w/ a shirt asking “Got Meth?”…interesting… - met some cute ... read more

Days 16, 17, and 18 - Ios We traveled by ferry from Paros to Ios late Thursday afternoon. At the port, our hotel we booked the evening before was there to pick us up. In Greece no one seems to want to travel alone, so two very fun people from the hotel picked us up. They were very kind and pointed out all that we needed to know during our stay. I would say the people in Greece are very friendly. I guess I should not be surprised. Beautiful islands, sunshine, and beaches can tend to do that to people- a lot different then skyscrapers and subways. We drove through the village (Hora) to our hotel which was near Milopotas Beach. Ios is a noted party island, so certainly we looked forward to that after spending ... read more

Today we slept in and after buying Robyn some Greek sandles took a bus to Ornos beach. We had intended on going to Elia Beach, but we missed the 2PM bus and the next bus there wasn't until 4PM, so Ornos it was. We were plesently surprised with the beach. The sand is nothing like the beaches in Hawaii, not quite fine enough, but it was excellently equipt with sunbathing beds and wooden umbrella shade.... read more

Another hot spot crossed off for us ladies… we have just spent the last week in Greece. What a beautiful place! We arrived in Athens and stayed the night in a bit of a dodge area but that was only until we got the ferry across to Santorini Island the next day. What a trip that was, 8 hours it took us to get there. We started out with the cheap tickets which get you on the deck but after being crammed on top, with un comfy seats and dirty smokers huddled all round us we decided to upgrade to the inside air seats, pretty much like a plane but way more leg room! Slept most of the way which was good and now here we are doing it all over again to get back… Anyway ... read more

We got up around 10AM and made the last boat over to nearby Delos. This island is famous for being the remains of the once Sacred Greek town which was unspoiled by the Romans as they abandoned the island. Walking around it reminded me of a Greek version of Pompeii. Beautiful mosaics preserved of Dyonises and another of Dolphins. We summated Mt. Kynthos for sweeping views out onto the sea and nearby islands. We made our way to the museum and saw the famous Delos lions and on our way to the return ship we saw the replicas that show where they originally stood. All in all, a very worthwhile little half-day trip. Not only that, we got into the site for free because we're students of the EU, I do a wonderful British accent.... read more

Today we slept in late and boarded our ferry for Mykonos around 10:30. When we arrived we met a nice lady who offered us a room (and really nice as well, a ride - as we arrived in the New Port which is far away from the center of Mykonos Town). The room is a great price for the location - a 5 to 10 minute walk from the center of Mykonos town, located by the famous windmills with a sea view and a balcony - all for only 50 Euros a night. We were happy to move in to it for the next 3 nights. Mykonos is a great island. It has everything an island hopper could wish for: Beautiful beaches, insane Nightlife and frozen in time Archeological wonders on nearby Delos. We wandered around ... read more
