My last four days here have been heavenly. This place is so picturesque, photogenic really. It's like taking pictures of Mila Kunis. In that it is really difficult to take a bad one. There is always a new angle that makes you fall in love all over again. On top of that I have moved to a new hotel and into a room with an upper floor balcony with a view of the caldera's dark blue water and the white building of Santorini. It is truly amazing to sit here and watch the sun dappled Agean Sea with the still active volcanic islands rising out of it. I gaze down at the boats in the harbor, the hapy holiday goers, and listen to relaxing music as the birds glide by seemingly in synch to the rhythm. ... read more

We made it all the way down to Athens, and after a bit of a drama finding somewhere safe where someone could look after BFG for a week, we hopped on a fast boat to Santorini. It was a bit of a choppy crossing and we were so glad to arrive without needing sick bags! We had a wonderful week based in Kamari with a hag night (stag and hen) at a winery and retro bar complete with a Bowden quiz. The wedding ceremony was stunning, taking place on the cliff face of Fira at sunset. Us bridesmaids enjoyed some spa time with the bride to be during the day and the boys went off on quads, luckily there were no accidents before the wedding. We also enjoyed a day out on a boat to visit ... read more

I awoke slightly discouraged. As far as my walk was concerned my hotel was conveniently located right at the edge of town. However, because of this I hadn't actually seen anything yet. Where were the bars? Shops? Tavernas? Where was the everything? So I decided to set out exploring. The first road I was on was sidewalkless and narrow. I practically got honked off the road by some irate Greek woman shouting something in indistinguishable Greek. I prefer to think she was complimenting my stylish new shoes, but who knows. It was all looking a bit bleak. However, I finally made a left turn up a little lane and found out what all the fuss was about. There were these shaded pedestrian alleyways with shops, bars, you name it. They were all leading to overlooks with ... read more

I arrived on Santorini on a Blue Star Ferry out of the port of Piraeus still jet lagged and unsure. I hadn’t found my traveler’s legs yet, and now it was time to disembark. The port of Athinios, where most people first step foot on this island’s soil is rather other worldly. It feels like some abandoned old quarry at the water’s edge of a caldera. I walked off the boat expecting to find a semi-organized taxi rank. However, what I found was mobs of people, a fleet of vans and buses, and signs for rooms to rent. Being a bit confused what to do I paced to and fro eventually extricating myself from the crowds and sitting down on an out of the way stone wall. As I sat there my gaze turned upwards. Rising ... read more

Alışveriş bitince, yine eğri büğrü yollardan otele döndük .... b... read more

We were lucky enough to have four wonderful nights in Santorini. From the first time I saw Santorini, I knew I would love this place. Sailing in on the ferry, we saw Santorini with its white roof tops which from a distance looked like snow on the top. Santorini is quite a high island, which is probably why its sunsets are so well known. We got off the ferry and the port and like all the others it was a sea of madness; People, cars and signs everywhere. We soon found our transfer to our accommodation “Villa Toula”. The drive from the port to our accommodation was an interesting one. As the port is at sea level, we had to go on a zigzag road up to the top of the island. This makes being driven ... read more

... read more

Önce, çocukları limana bıraktım..... sonra Havaalanına gidip aracı Corinna kardeşimize teslim ettim . O da beni tekrar limana geri getirdi. Limanda bizi Santorini'ye götürecek MegaJet bayağı dolu… Nufüsun yaklaşık %60 'ı Rus… Artık Rusları kimse tutamaz, buraları da keşfettiler .. Eskiden Antalya'dan başka yer bilmezlerken ,şimdi Santorini… gelişim müthiş.. Tekne 08:30 da kalktı 11:30 da Thira ‘daydık. Genel olarak Santorini olarak bilinen adanın esas adının Yunanca Thira olduğunu hatırlatmakta yarar görüyorum… Aaa biz Santorini'ye gidecektik.... Bu Thira nereden çıktı demeyiniz. An early 05:30 flight from Athens to Santorini saw us exploring Thira before formal check-in. The Scirocco is down quite a ways from street level on the cliff (Caldera) and I'm grateful our unit is in the top half of the complex; not a disability or small child friendly environment. The weather cotinues to be very hot, can't recall seeing a cloud since Kiev. No sign of any afternoon thunderstorm but the cool sea breeze really springs up immediately the sun disappears. The apartment and location is simple amazing, most other places have some foreground distraction; the view here is really in your face - a real kickback/relax place. Couldn't get Lesia to try a mule ride or the fish that nibble your toes; got her on a scooter though. We toured the island for a ... read more

We arrived in Santorini late Sunday night and went immediately to our cave house in Oia. It had a private balcony with a view of the caldera. The next day, we explored Oia for a little bit, then took the bus to Thira. Both Oia and Thira have a maze of little streets to walk around. In Thira, we did a little shopping and checked out a couple of orthodox churches. In the evening, we had dinner and watched the sunset from the restaurant in Thira. The next day, Tuesday, we chilled out by the pool and took in the sunset at Oia. On Wednesday, we had booked a buggy to drive around Santorini, but we changed it to an air conditioned car because it was too hot. We then proceeded to Old Thira, with a ... read more
