Hi all,
just adding quick entry as havnt had the chance to for a few days. that is because the last two days have been a bit heavy, none-stop travelling for 48 hours. the last time we added sumut was the morning when we left monopoli. from there we changed our plans, deciding to get the ferry to patras from brindisi instead of bari, as i was a bit cheaper. we arrived there at around 2pm, and i just chilled out reading on a bench in the sun by the harbour, and kerry went for a wander, seeing the cathedral etc. it was here that we met a canadian couple, eric and julia, who were getting the same night ferry as us. they seemed pretty decent, for north-armericans (!), and so we stuck together in our attempts to understand which buses took us to the right ferry. we had to board the ferry 2 hours before take off, at 5pm, and due to leave dock at 7pm. at 8:30pm, 3 and a half hours after getting on the fewrry, we finally set off. i was less than happy, my anger being added to by the 3 public school girls, from somewhere in surrey no doubt, acting like giddy little school girls when i was trying to get some sleep at 4 in the morning on the floor of a ferry. i was guna have a go at them, but kerry pulled me back. we should have done eric and julia did and sleep on deck. having spent the evening with us, the canadians had become our new best friends, and liked us so much that they abandoned their plans of 4 days in athens to spend 4 days with us in naxos. oh, i forgot to say, a funny moment that i missed out on, due to being asleep, was when halfway through the night, i started doing my shouting a flayling thing that i do sometimes on the floor of the pullmans seats rooms, where everyone was sleeping, and everyone around me woke up and thought i was having some kind of fit. kerry assured them that this was in fact a regular thing that i do in my sleep, but amusing all the same. annoyingly, i slept through breakfast, the first chance of a fry up since iv been away, but lunch made up for it, despite the fact that we were due to arrive 2 hours before lunch was served. finally 4 hours late, we arrived in patras at 2pm friday, and with our gang of us, the canadians, and our other pal, Cam the aussie, we got the train to athens port. on the train we met a scottish fella with a spanish girlfriend, and so the lot of us got to the port at 6:40, and ran like the wind for our 7pm ferry. however, when we got there, we turned around and realise that we might as well have walked, as we had to wait for a very out of breath kerry stuggling along with her backpack. it was v.funny, as the other girls had bigger bags than her, and had managed fine. we then spent the next 5 hours on ANOTHER ferry, drinking really bad cheap greek wine in the bar, and playing cards. we were due to get in at 11pm, but infact got in at 2am, and the problem of where we would sleep raised a problem. we had been told by people that fellas from b and bs wait on the docks for travellers of the ferry, so accom. wouldnt be a prob, but at 2am, was unlikely they would still be there. the scottish fella and girlfriend were off to sleep on the beach, which made sense as it was warm enough, and seemed silly to pay for half a nights sleep. so ready for this, apart from kerry who was "worried that crabs might pinch her ears" , we left the ferry heading for the beach. luckily for kerry though, there was a fella from a b and b waiting, and so with her "in not sleeping on a beach" firmly fixed on, minus the scottish fella, we all hit a cheap b and b, which turned out to be really nice, private double room with private bathroom, all for 25 euros a night per couple. i must admit, as much as i would have done the beach thing, after nearly 30 hours on ferries, and 48 hours of travelling, i enjoyed the bed. it was so funny tho, kerry's face when the scot was explaining how to dig a toilet hole on the beach, and diggling a shallow grave to sleep in. it was a picture. this morning we woke up to a knock at the door with eric having made us breakfast of bread goats cheese and banana, a nice way to start the day. we hit the beach to chill out for the afternoon, and enjoyed a few much deserved beers. sadly, we had a 2-on-2 canada vs england beach footy match, which england lost 10-5. a was so ashamed. muscle-wise, we were out done, as julie is off leave from the canadian army in iraq, and eric of course enjoys to work out, so man for man we were stuffed. kerry managed to score a diving header own goal tho, which was decided by all to be the highlight of the game. and so thats it til now. we have just had lunch, and now the 4 of us are off to do the old town. 2mo, we are hiring a car for the day to go inland and visit the greek ruins and liitle villages, so should be good. iv been on the look out for a bar with sky for the leeds match on monday night, but havnt found one yet. its ok tho, il have a good hunt 2mo. hope all is ok at home, any news welcome. read the front page of the sun today, something about a bloke locking his daughter up for 24 years? the mind boggles. anyway, til next time,
Alex and Kerry xxx ( and eric and julia)

Sounds like your journey to Greece was a mini epic all on its own. At last we are enjoying some sunshine here, temperarure has been in the mid 20s for about a week now. We are still on the hospital visiting, Nan A has become a very disgruntled patient and wants to go home which is understandable but as she is not able to weight bear on her broken ankle is totally out of the question.
The story about the Austrian man who kept his daughter locked in the cellar is beyond belief, as well as keeping her incarcerated for that length of time she has also had 7 children all fathered by him!
Kerry we received the catacombes postcard, is it someone else that reminds you of your Dad?
Enjoy Naxos, love P&C. xxx
As I said in the text we received your post card, is it your Dad that it reminds
