Mykonos features some of the most beautiful and well known beaches in Greece and the rest of Europe which have played a very important part of the island’s tourism development. The sand is semolina white and the waters are cold and as blue as can be. You should be aware that on days with north winds, it is wise to visit the south coast Mykonos beaches, while on south wind days, opt for north coast beaches only on calm days where there are no waves. Overall, Mykonos has a type of beach for everyone. Whether you are looking for fun by the sea until sundown with a cocktail in your hand, or a quiet time reading a book on a calm, secluded beach, if you are the active type looking for sea sports, or if you are a nudist, Mykonos has a beach for you. And, of course, if you want to enjoy your lunch by the sea, all the beaches on the island feature luxury restaurants and picturesque taverns serving Greek and Cycladic cuisine. Paradise Beach
Location: Paradise Beach is located on the south coast of Mykonos next to Super Paradise beach.
Description: Known for its everyday parties, by day and by night, Paradise beach in Mykonos is favored by younger visitors, since it hosts some of the most famous clubs in Mykonos. Behind the beach there is a fully organized camping facility for those who prefer closer contact with nature during their vacation. You can get to Paradise beach by taxi, by bus or through a footpath from Platys Gialos leading to Paradise beach.
Super Paradise Beach
Location: South coast beach, right next to Paradise beach.
Description: Super Paradise beach in Mykonos is a south coast beach with calm waters and a golden sand strip, located right next to Paradise beach. It is home to the well known Super Paradise Club, in the center of which there is also a pool. The beach is known for its loud music, all day fun and nudist visitors. You can get to Super Paradise beachby taxi or sea taxi, whose routes usually start at Platys Gialos.
Elia Beach
Location: On the northern side of Mykonos.
Description: Elia beach is the largest sandy and fully organized beach in Mykonos. It is a beach you are sure to enjoy on days that the winds are not strong. Incredibly clear waters bordering a fairly large sand strip, host facilities for numerous sea sports.
Tip: Don’t forget to try the marvelous dishes served at the beach restaurant. You will be impressed.
Panormos Beach
Location: On the northern side of the island, located just before reaching Agios Sostis.
Description: Allthough the waters of Panormos beach in Mykonos are chilly, the water temperature is in fact warmer than that of Mykonos’ other beaches. Furthermore, Panormos beach is surrounded by sand dunes. You can play beach volley for as long as you like, while the beach is fairly organized, offering just umbrellas and no lounge chairs. You can have your coffee, drink or food right on the beach ordering from the two bar - restaurants. Access is easy with your own vehicle, by taxi, or by bus.
Tip: In July and August, as well as on weekends all summer long it is best if you arrive early because later on you will find it hard to find a spot to spread your towel. Don’t go to Panormos beach if there are strong winds. They will sweep your towel off the beach – maybe you, too.
Psarou Beach
Location: Psarou beach in Mykonos, is located a short distance before reaching Platys Gialos.
Description: Psarou beach is unquestionably one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, with clear blue waters, golden sand and the advantage that however strong the north winds are, the waters at Psarou are always calm, since the beach is protected by the surrounding mountains. The beach at Psarou is also the most cosmopolitan beach on the island, with its superior quality of all offered services. You will see for yourself judging from the people you will meet. Tip: Don’t forget to make a beach lounge chair reservation on weekends and weekdays in July and August at Psarou beach and don’t miss out on tasting the delights from the hip restaurant Nammos’ sophisticated menu.
Ornos Beach
Location: Ornos beach is a south coast beach, the closest to the Capital, just 2 km away.
Description: Ornos beach in Mykonos, like Psarou beach, has the advantage of remaining undisturbed from the winds even on extremely windy days. Bus routes to Ornos beach are very frequent, while after a great day at the beach you can choose from one of the restaurants along the beach, serving mostly fresh fish. Ornos beach has a marina, restaurants, a super market and hotels, all at a short distance from each other.
Tip: Ornos is ideal for families with small children.
Platis Gialos Beach
Location: South coast beach, easily accessible from the capital.
Description: One of the most popular beaches in Mykonos, Platys Gialos beach is quite organized with lots of people and many hotels and restaurants along the sand strip. Sea taxis transporting people to almost any beach in Mykonos begin their routes here. You can get to Platys Gialos beach by bus or with your own vehicle.
Lia Beach
Location: Located 14 km from the capital, near Kalafatis.
Description: Lia beach in Mykonos is fairly quiet and organized, with crystal clear blue waters and fine sand, flanked by rock formations. Ideal for groups of friends and families, Lia beach is a sure bet that you will enjoy your day at the beach. You can get to Lia beach following the signs from Ano Mera village and then by taxi or with your own vehicle, since the beach has a large parking area.
Kalo Livadi Beach
Location: Southeast coast
Description: Kalo Livadi beach is one of the largest beaches in Mykonos, with calm, clear blue waters and fully organized with many restaurants. You may have to reserve your beach lounge chair at Kalo Livadi beach, from the day before. Music is both Greek and foreign, while you can choose from one of the sea sports available.
Agrari Beach
Location: South coast beach, right next to Super Paradise beach.
Description: Agrari is a vast, sandy beach where you can practice any sea sport you choose. You can get there by sea taxi, by regular taxi or with your own vehicle. There are lounge chairs, but the beach is not swamped by them, allowing it to maintain its natural beauty. Over the beach there is a small café where you can get a drink or grab a bite. Agrari beach is also ideal for nudism.
Paraga Beach
Location: South coast beach, easily accessible from the capital.
Description: One of the most crowded beaches on the island, organized to a point you almost can’t see the sand from the many lounge chairs. For a more quite day on the beach or for nudism, you should settle at the end of the beach. The waters are crystal clear and you can choose from an array of restaurants and bars to order your coffee, food or beverage on the beach. You can get there from Platys Gialos after a 10 minute walk, by sea taxi or regular taxi and with your own vehicle.
Tip: Ideal for days with strong north winds. Here, you won’t even know that it is windy.
Kalafatis Beach
Location: Southeast side of Mykonos, next to Agia Anna.
Description: Kalafatis Mykonos beach, is the only beach in Mykonos surrounded by trees, and one of the largest on the island. Kalafatis beach is known for its sea sports facilities – sea canoes, jet skis, sea pedal boats, wind surfing among others.
