So after a long 9.5 hours direct flight from Toronto my friend and I finally arrived to Athens... we were welcomed by a beautiful scenery of mountains surrounding the airport... right away we were called by our travel agent and was led to the bus... It was a definite short ride from Athens to the port where we climbed aboard a ferry transfer to the island of Mykonos....
Though when my friend and I arrived to the airport at Athens, we found that some vendors were somwhat rude.... maybe it's their own way or so but I have greek friends back home and they've always been nice and very inviting but whatever! I will obviously not let anything like that ruin my trip...
I was rather surprise when I noticed a lot of yellow taxis... they were not just regular cars... they were mercedez benz and some BMWs... and a lot of them! I just thought of sharing that.... it's pretty cool and unusual to at least for me... So as we arrived the port... the ferry itself served as a ferry for anyone who wants to island hopping... regardless who you are wether tourists or greek, that's their
way of transportation from the mainland to the islands... cars were given space, and we had our designated seats...
Just right at the boat as it sailed the Aegean Sea, standing right outside the economy deck we witnessed the beauty of Greece... the sea itself is a magnificent sight... beautiful blue deep waters surrounded by big and tiny islands... wether it's inhabitted or inhabbited... it's there... very stunning! The ferry transfer took 4 hours from Athens to Mykonos and the first stop was at Syros... As we neared the deck... people at the port were waiting to be transferred to Mykonos and some people from our ferry were waiting to leave the ferry... it was chaotic at first since cars had to leave the deck and after they let the people go through...
But on we sailed in the beautiful Aegean Sea on the way to Mykonos island... we met people from Paris and Rome... all going to Mykonos for one reason... to party... they said that Mykonos is an island filled with gay and party people... well I was about to discover that... as I enjoyed the ferry ride with the wind blowing and the taste of
salt in my mouth.... It was very very salty... maybe because of the speed of the boat itself but there were salt everywhere! As people relaxed and took photos of amazing islands that we pass by, windmills on top of the mountains and houses stacked together in white walls and blue rooftops and doors... the sun sets right at the Aegean Sea and it was beautiful...
We arrived and it was a definite chaos, people are crazy drivers... it's funny because no matter if it was a small car or a moto or a pedestrian, they were not scared at all with the incomming large buses...
As we arrived our hotel... my friend and I took the courage to ride the bus for the very first time with little information other than where the bus stop was... while waiting for 40 mins, we met some Australians and got some info from them... so that was very helpful... upon arriving to the Mykonos Town, we had our Gyro Pita for only 2 euros and it was the bomb... I've had Gyros in Toronto but nothing like the Gyro in Mykonos... for a small amount and a bottle of smirnoff
for only 2.50 euro... I was full and ready to explore...
We met a local who originally from Ghana stated that he was a promoter, was very nice to show us around the Town and hook us up on some bars and clubs for free... as we danced our night away, meeting people after people from Athens to Italy... we finally ended our night or should I say morning and head back to the hotel.... at 6am...
I can only say one thing... the party in Mykonos is insane... it usually starts around 1am or 2am and it goes on till 6am to 7 am and in some popular clubs party doesnt stop until 9am...
It was a blast.... Mykonos is a definite must go and experience place especially if you're into partying...
