ROME
Ok let me start my Rome entry again, because at the farm we stayed at in Rome the internet was timed and i lost all my work :-( Italy was hot, humid and really dirty. I didnt rate the food, especially disapointed with the pizza, because they only put like 4 toppings on (ham, cheese, mushrooms and tomato) boring!!! We got an Imperial tour guide which took us to the colosseum, thru the ruins of rome, along to the pantheon (a church) and to the Trivie Fountain. The colosseum was different to how i thought it would be. It was falling down and dirty (like the rest of Italy), i pictured the colosseum out of the movie Gladiator! The ruins were interesting, because the peasants went on a riot back when they didnt like the emporer and destroyed the city. The next day in Rome we went to Vatican City. We missed the pope's speech because we were still waiting in line to get in. The Cistine Chapel was spectacular. Michellangello was a very clever man to have painted all the gorgeous paintings in there. We also saw more bones but this time the bones of the monks were
made into artwork to sybolise the harmonious passing of their holyness...it was just plain weird. We left early on Thursady to head off to Pompeii which wasn't as good as i was expecting. I didnt see any of the dust covered people like u see in the postcards or photos. It was still facinating. We board a "dodgy greek ferry" to stay over night on the way to the Greek Island of Corfu. The ferry wasnt as dodgy as Janelle (tour manager) expected so we were all pleasantly suprised! I had moosaka for dinner! SOOOO goood. was really looking forward to more greek food!
Beaching it up
AH! my fav place so far. I am having a blast in Corfu. We arrived and we all went swimming in the pool because the beach isnt white sand its black pebbles which hurt. We vetured into town and i spent a lil on everyone! so expect presents! Lunch was unbelievable! I had a pita gyros, basically a kebab with the meat, tziki, onion, tomato, chips and gravy! really really really yummo and only 1.60EUR! i will crave these again! We had dinner at a traditional greek restaurant which was great!
we got to sample ouzo at the door, had yummo wine with our tziki, lamb and chicken. We watch dancing, bellydancing, singing and plate smashing. We all danced as well. Great night and excellent food. The next day was our boat tour. The boat took us to the watersports place where i want on the flyfishing tube and a psycho donut tube (see photos). the green tube hurt my back and bloody winded me it was so fast and crazy! but super fun!! We swam and cruised for the rest of the arvo and then went home to get ready for the toga party!!!We all looked like greek gods! and everyone dressed up, which was great. It was a huge night, the cocktails were great and yes i did have a handover today, ewe. good thing hayley was the driver and we hired a little car to drive over to the west caost of the island where the beaches are sandy :-) we hired an umbrella and sunbeds and sunbaked and swam all day. Just what everyone needed to recharge. Absoultly perfect day and perfect time in Greece. Were off to Venice tomor on a huge "dodgy greek ferry". Not
looking forward to more Italy!! and i'll miss this beautiful place.
