Wine for Daddy, Plums for Me
While I didnt try his wine, Thimiopoulos's plums were awesome! After a couple nights in fairytale- like meteora, we headed even more north, as daddy had heard of a type of wine that interested him - Xinomavro. Whatever. It was a 3 hour drive to the first place we went to called Alpha Estate. We were met by Angelos Iatridis who was the winemaker. Daddy was expecting to get a tour/tasting from the wine maker here. Angelos took us in his car all over the vineyards, showed us around the facilities, and then daddy tasted a bunch of wine while I did some coloring and watched part of a movie. Daddy said the wine was really good, and once again, bought some wine from 2005, my birth year to keep for a long, long time.
We then travelled another 1 hour to reach Naoussa, where we would stay the night in a very cute hotel, the nicest one on our whole trip. We had a taxi driver take us to 2 other wineries - Kir Yianni and Dalamaras. At Kir Yianni, I loved playing in the yard with the flowers, and at Dalamaras I had fun with the owners/winemakers Yiannis and Katerina. They were very nice. Daddy, of course, loved
Me and Thimiopoulos
We had a great morning with the winemaker as he took us all around, played with his rabbits and his mom made us some good food. Oh, and daddy had some awesome wine. the wine and bought some more bottles. We went out to dinner at a nice restaurant and ate outside. Out waiter was really cool and we stayed there for a few hours having a lot of fun.
Next morning, our last day in Greece, we stopped at one last wine estate, Thimiopoulos. This winery was the main reason daddy had decided to make the long trip all the way to Naoussa. He had heard about his wine on
winelibrarytv greek wine episode an internet show daddy likes to listen to. So he got his contact info and planned to visit. So we met him at his house/winery and had an incredible time. He drove us into the mountains and showed us where he gets his grapes from as well as stopping at a park for me to drink from fresh spring water. We then went back to his place and I played and fed his rabbits and then his mother brought us out some great food. He let daddy taste some wine from the barrel, which daddy said was incredible and then they tasted some from the bottle. Thimiopolous even gave my daddy a large bottle for free and daddy liked his

Kir Yianni Wine Estate wine so much, he traded a couple of the South African bottles he bought for some more. We really had a good time with him and we were bummed that we could not stay longer. Daddy said it was the highlight of the wine tasting part of the entire trip. We had to leave to stop by the LAST place on this incredible 1 month trip - Delphi!
