The hutAs seen from the bottom of the mountain - it's a long way up
With the weather in northern Greece not so good today (better tomorrow and for the next 5 days) we decided to stay in Delphi and do some walking. Perched on top of a mountain overlooking Delphi was what seemed to b a viewing hut. It seemed a good idea, and there was a clearly marked trail.
It took 3 hours to do the climb, mostly a relatively easy walk, and a bit less than 2 hours to get back down, The views were fantastic. We also saw eagles, a snake, loads of butterflies, flowers, and at times the whole mountain seemed to smell of thyme, sage and oregano. At other times it smelled of dead goat but we only saw one of those. We saw hundreds of crickets.
Going to head north tomorrow, find somewhere on the way to Pella to stop. Probably around Volos since this seems to be about half way time wise. We shall see.
We sent Courtney a text for her birthday - hoping that got through. Card and present promised for when we get back as I don't want to depend on the Greek postal service.
The walk up the mountain was
amazing, revealing increasingly distant views of the archaeological sites and increasingly large quantities of the Gulf of Corinth. I'm not sure how well any of this will show in the pictures. This is the problem with only having the phones (the upside being no camera to worry about!).
