Please note, this is slightly out of order. This came after Athens. Our tour grooup lost 5 members that wwere going on a greek island hopping tour and we picked up 7 more. We left athens and drove through where Sparta used to be to our night stop. We were staying in Parga which is a beautiful coastal town. It has a port, two beaches within walking distance, and a castle. We had made pretty good time so we got there about 330 in the afternoon. Th common consent was to go down to the beautiful beach. I was assigned the room with 3 new people...which made me the only original trip member to be rooming with a new person, and I was with 3! I said something aout it to the guide, and he said ... read more

Turns out I haven’t written in my blog for over a month…partly because we haven’t had good access to internet and partly because I am lazy and would rather suntan on the beach - I won’t lie. So, due again to my laziness, I copied most of Kelsey’s blog and am going to post it as my own. I am officially giving credit to her……here it goes: Kelsey and I spent a lot of time over in Transylvania, enjoying the beautiful countryside and amazing castles oozing with history. We visited the castle in Sinaia, called Pelis, where the first king and queen of Romania lived and were able to walk through and see the amazing architecture and elaborate decoration, with so much intricate wood carvings that is was too overwhelming to take all in. We learned ... read more

Hi Again, first of all, unfortunately travel blog lost allot of entries with a failure, so I can not find the pictures I had and the Rome information and pictures. I will re enter some of them, but I am so busy traveling right now. Slowly I will re add my notes or new ones and pictures. I may have to do this after the fact. Too bad but I guess I am not in control of that. Anyways I will write a few more notes and later download some more pictures. Just want to let you know what is happening. Since last time, I went with Arlene and Nick to the island of Evia, city of Nea Styra. We sure had a nice time. Allot of people out each evening. We swam each day. Finally ... read more

I have recently re-emerged from a five day stint of relaxing on the Grecian island of Spetses. The weather, in case you’re interested, was hot and sunny. Everyday. Which was perfect for soaking up the sun and lounging around by the pool. This, by the way, pretty much encompassed our daily schedule. Everyday, Mom and Aunt Judy would wake, go for a walk, then I’d join them for breakfast. Following breakfast, we’d reward our hard work at standing in the buffet line by retiring to said pool. There, a steady routine of swim, read, nap, swim, read, nap was implemented. Around the dinner hour we’d make our way into town in search of sustenance. This proved to be our biggest challenge during the day: deciding where to eat. Given the sheer quantity of culinary delights offered ... read more

From Rob: Deanne and I visited Spetses, Greece right after our trip to Mount Kilimanjaro via London and Barbados. The cool thing was that we incidentally learned about Athena Travel, which set up this very cheap trip for a Last-Minute deal (found all over London). We had to take a flight at around 3 a.m., then an early morning ferry to the island. But it was so worth it! Spetses was a fine place to visit. On the issue of race and ethnicity, it was an interesting experience. We noticed that little kids would blatantly point at us, simply because of the color of our skin. They had little or no contact with Black people. This happened as we walked down the street into town. It happened while eating dinner at a restaurant. In the latter ... read more
