Hello from Greece!! Kelly and I are having a blast !! We left America on Saturday May 12 at 1845. I was so nervous I thought I was going to vomick. I hugged Thad (Kelly's boyfriend) good bye longer than she did... and I've only met him twice.... Of course the flight was delayed in SF, but only by 15mins, we could totally handle that. Not to mention we were a little tipsy from the Padron (taquilla) shots we did at the airport bar... When we landed in Heathrow, we had to sit on the tarmac for an hour because "the tractor that pushes the plane away from our gate broke down" and we needed to wait for another one to get the other plane out of our friggen gate. The 10 hr flight wasn't ... read more

Today ROCKED! We got chaffeured around Athens in a Strech Mercedes Benz Limo that was waiting for us when we got off the ship, although we didn't order one. In fact, we had no plan other than not to spend another day on a tour bus. It was expensive, but split between 5 of us, it ending up being close to the cost of the ship organized bus tours. It was quite the day. Our driver was "Tommy" (we couldn't seem to remember his greek name which I think was Fonasis or Thonasis or something like that). Anyone who goes to Athens should hire him. He was fantastic! He took us to all of the historical sites in Athens (Greek Orthodox churches, Acropolis, the apartment where Kristina Onasis lived, temples dedicated to all of the greek ... read more

Another beautiful day in Athens. We woke up, got dressed quickly and sauntered down into the heart of the Plaka. Our goal was to have a nice breakfast on the top of one of the hotels that we heard was a nice place to eat. It was just on the outskirts of the flea market area (which was not open during the weekdays). We finally found this hotel after about a nice 15 minute walk. However, as soon as we got there we found out that there was no breakfast served on top, only drinks at night. A bit of a bummer, not only because we went out of our way to get there, but also because we were looking forward to the rooftop dining experience. However, after looking at that particular area of town, I ... read more

Rise and shine… we both woke up early at 7:45 am. It was a beautiful morning and we took our time to get ready. Both of us enjoyed a nice warm shower in our cute little bathroom. By 9:45 we were out the doors looking for a new adventure in the city of Athens. I brought my camera and enjoyed the serenity of the warm spring morning down the streets. The sounds of many birds were chirping and you could hear church bells and choirs in the background. A very peaceful and glorious morning. After a little exploration and finally finding a map, we were able to see where we were going. Our trek led us to the flea market. Although it was interesting at first, it became repetitive and irritating after awhile as both ... read more

Hey everyone! I arrived in Athens on May 3rd 2007, Sas, Seb and Steve picked me up at the airport where I was ever so hopeful they would remember to come pick me up. They did! It was so great to see them, and have them carry my luggage as well as I was exhausted from the 7hr flight across the ocean, then my morning (1am-5am) sitting at Schipol Amsterdam Airport, and the next 3 hrs on the plane to Athens. Drinking? No thank you. Feeling a little knackered? yesssssssss!!! We went on the train, got threatened with a little fine by the train conductor because the boys like taking risks and chose to not buy tickets for their way back to Athens. They sweet-talked their way out of the fine, and were let off entirely ... read more

So, I got up and got packed as Alicia did the same for she was heading to the islands for the weekend. We then caught the metro and parted our ways. I got to the airport check-in to be told there is a good chance i might not make today's flight as they were nearing the plane's weight limit. So, i had to wait along with other people to see how many of us will make the flight. Well, it came down to a couple, me, and one other lady left w/ just 30 minutes before the plane departs. She then said she can take one more person and since the couple didn't want to split up, i was next on the list!!! Thank god!!! So, i rushed onto the plane and was on my way ... read more

Hello everyone, Well after an exhausting 24 hours of travelling we're finally in Greece. We had to catch up on some much needed sleep (I don't think we slept for about 2 days) before we ventured out of our cave to see what Athens had on offer. Obviously we wanted to go up to the Acropolis (our hostel is pretty much at the base of it) and see the Parthenon, so we did. We've also seen all the other ancient touristy stuff, including the Temple of Zeus and Ancient Agora. Along the way we stumbled across the markets where we stocked up on a kilo of strawberries for 1.80 before discovering the meat section. If you're a vegetarian I recommend to stay clear!! Most animals are skinned and hanging by their feet, that's if their ... read more

Ok, so I'm writing this almost 20 years later, but I want everyone to know where I've been. Heck, I wanna' know where I've been! First and foremost, I LOVE to talk, but can't spell worth a lick.....so get over it, try to understand what I mean, enjoy it, and read on! Let me start off with how our trip was set up. The group I traveled with was: 16 from my high school (Science Hill), 1 from the rival school (Dobbyns Bennett in Kingsport), and 3 from Nashville. We then added a few from Ohio, and "Poof" our group was made! We started out by all meeting up in Washington DC for 3 days of "debriefing"......I'm sorry, itwas SO very boring and I did fall asleep! I tried so hard to listen to what all ... read more

Hey everyone! Well this might be our last entry for a couple days. Tomorrow we are heading on the ferry to Mykonos, so we might not update until the day after in Mykonos, provided we find an internet cafe. So yesterday, whew where to start? After eating a delicous breakfast we hopped the metro to the Akropoli station. It was already 11:30 and really hot out. We meant to get going earlier but we didn't get out of bed... I guess we are more jetlagged than we thought. Same with today, its already noon, we only got up an hour ago. So we hopped off the metro and there is the Acropolis in daylight! So beautiful. We grabbed some postcards for Elaine (she collects them), some bottled water (we were all out), and off we ... read more
