Upto now , I was always assigned to go to the east of Europe, but to help out on another project , I was asked to go for once to the south , -Greece-, a country I never visited before (but was on my private wishlist) .It sounded like a fun trip , going to Athens (for
business) , already from the start I was thinking about going to some of the more attractive (tourist)places (La Plaka...) .
My first encounter with Olympic Airlines was also a bit ackward, after serving the hot-meal we where left sitting there for an hour with our empty trays, whilst the stewards where having a long break at the last row of seats...
Once arrived at late night it left the airport and went straight to the black taxi's , tired and aggitated I just asked to take me to the hotel , boy , once arrived he charged me for 90€ as this was not a taxi but a limo service ... sorry boss, won't happen again...:-(
I was staying at the Novotell in City Centre( Michal Voda) , nice hotel, saddly enough the roof terras and pool where not open yet.
the hotel itself is located in a less attractive area after 10Pm but everything is easaly accesible by the subway around the corner.
I do had to take a taxi every day to get to the Pireaus harbour where the customer was located , boy ..they drive their taxi as crazy as in Moscow and Romenia (getting used to that driving style by now..just don't try that in Belgium..)
Down side was the long working days, which kept me away from going to the Pireaus harbour itself (and the beaches) , maybe next time ?
