My trip to Athens began on Saturday May 10th, Stephanie and I left Indy to go to Philly to connect our flight to Athens. Security wasn't a problem and we got right through with no problems!!! The problem however, was that there was a greek family on our flight who had young children who were screaming before we even got on the plane! When we got on, we were sitting in the seat in front of them! Needless to say, I was glad it was only to Philly and not to Athens!!!
Upon arriving to Athens, we found ourselves confused on what to do and where to go, but we followed the crowd and managed to find our way through customs and found our bags and exchanged money for Euros. I was disappointed to find that the money I brought with me from when i went to England years ago, is no longer in existance. They switched from pounds to Euros and I had forgotten about that!
After leaving the airport, we found the Metro train station and got on and found our way to our stop at Mexaxourghio. Our hotel was right down the street but we didn't figure that our right way. Upon coming out of the station we got turned around and we ran into an American couple from Austin who helped us find our way! We checked into the hotel and then went to explore the city. We went to Pireaus, which is a port city an there we were able to see HUGE ships! After our long day we came back to have dinner at the hotel and we had the best chocolate cake I have ever had!
